Quartus brings together a unique blend of rock, unlike anything else in the region. Hard to classify musically, their sound oozes of rock, jazz, blues and funk. Melting great lyrics over tasty grooves, it's easy to see why the band has made big waves in such little time.
Forming in January 2003 and releasing their debut album in May 2003, followed by their second album in the summer of 2004, the band has gained excellent support and has built a large, dedicated following to date. They quickly obtained airplay on commercial radio stations in the mid-west and are favorites on area college stations.
They landed the support of Castle Records in Nashville TN, and publisher Alley Roads Music for their 2004 summer release of their sophomore self-titled album. This widely distributed album has received countless rave reviews, and is on sale at music stores like Sam Goody and CD Warehouse as well as online from their website www.quartusonline.com. Songs can also be downloaded from popular internet sites such as Apple's iTunes, NetMusic, eMusic, MusicMatch, Music Net, the New Napster, as well as various other music download sites.
2006 found Quartus back in the studio once again, to record, "officially" their 4th album in 4 years. To be released late May of this year, it's already getting huge reviews and is greatly anticipated by many loyal Q fans.
The band has had the pleasure of supporting and sharing the stage with such acts as Blessed Union of Souls, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Los Lobos, Buddy Guy, Kelly Hunt, The Yonder Mountain String Band, Corey Stevens, The Nada's and more.
From first sight, Quartus sets themselves apart with their instrumentation alone. Besides the creative acoustic guitar and vocal work, and the drum and bass foundation, they feature two stellar musicians on trumpet and saxophone. This instrumentation, along with superb song writing, contributes to an overall sound that is new, extremely original and exciting.
If you haven't seen the live show, do yourself a favor and make it out.
