Il gruppo vocale Quattrottave nasce nel 1997, sotto la direzione di Fabio Parmeggiani.
Dopo l’esperienza comune del coro polifonico classico, il contatto con la musica a cappella degli Stati Uniti e lo studio del canto contemporaneo hanno portato alla costruzione di un repertorio che spazia dalla musica popolare al gospel, dalla polifonia classica al pop e al jazz, con arrangiamenti originali e d’autore. Quattrottave canta “a cappella”, cioè senza l’accompagnamento di strumenti musicali. Alla voce, o alle voci, a cui é affidata la melodia, si affiancano infatti le voci che eseguono un vero e proprio accompagnamento "strumentale" (contrabbasso, basso... persino percussioni vocali) imitando il suono degli strumenti oppure utilizzando sillabe, fonemi e pattern ritmici.

Alla base della ricerca musicale dei Quattrottave è la passione per la creatività umana; la musica e il canto sono da sempre la via più efficace ed immediata per esprimere se stessi e la propria storia, cercandone il significato più profondo.
quattrottave vocal group was born in milan, italy, in 1997th, under the direction of fabio parmeggiani. after the common experience in a classic poliphonic choir, the meeting with the american contemporary way of a cappella singing and the work on contemporary singing led to the building of a repertoire that goes from folk music to gospel, from pop to jazz to classical music, using both arrangements of their own and from other masters.
Quattrottave sings "a cappella", an ancient italian sentence that define those who sings without any musical instrument added, but the voice alone. In fact, to the voice, or voices that compose the main melody, a musical pattern of other voices is added, while creating an "instrumental" background, imitating the actual sound of the instruments theirselves (bass, basso continuo, horns, vocal percussions), or using sounds, words or rythmic grooves.

Bene... sto contrattando con illa il mio prossimo concerto dei Q8!!! Tra le date di dicembre attualmente a disposizione sto valutando quella più fattibile per me... di modo da rinnovare la tradizione (che ho inaugurato l'anno scorso) "Un concerto dei Q8 prima di Natale porta bene!" :-) Allora ci si vede a breve!!!
