"After a time in the Lake District, Katie Jane Garside moved to a cottage in Wales which she thinks was haunted. She filled pads with lyrics, poems and stories, experimented with a tape recorder, recording the wind and teaching herself how to sing. Whilst living at the house, she suffered repeatedly from strange dreams and impromptu vomiting. One particular dream she had was about a warrior Princess, called Princess Adreena, who in order to become a better warrior, cut off her left bosom so she could use a bow better.
Out one day she bumped into Crispin. The spark was rekindled. The pair got together and in time wrote between thirty and forty new songs.
Katie chose the project’s name and took Princess Adreena from her earlier dream and crowned her Queen Adreena.
Queen Adreena is an independent rock band from London, England which is currently signed to One Little Indian Records. Vocalist KatieJane Garside and guitarist Crispin Gray had previously collaborated in the celebrated but short-lived band Daisy Chainsaw. They were joined by drummer Billy Freedom and bassist Orson Wajih and then released their first album, Taxidermy, in 2000, on the Blanco y Negro Records imprint. After its release, the band’s name was changed slightly, from "Queen Adreena" to "QueenAdreena," and subsequent releases reflect this."
