Influences
Growing up in Oakland, CA, music was always the centerpiece and staff of life for Michele. My mom had a varied collection of albums like Harry Belfonte, The Righteous Brothers, Ray Charles, Mahalia Jackson and African and Island sounds! Then I heard Aretha and Tina Turner and I was really taken in!" Influenced by that commanding, Gospel/Soul sound, Michele's own musical expressions exude attitude and confidence...but especially honesty.
