BIOGRAPHY
Paula Wright was born in Kingston , Jamaica . She began her early education at Dunrobin Primary and later Pembroke Hall High. She continued this trend of formal education pursuing courses in secretarial studies, but her true interest was music.
In 1990, calling herself Sister Paula, she entered and won the Sunshine Talent Contest in Portmore and won a trip to the Cayman Islands to display her musical talent.
Impressed by her unique style and delivery, Ibo Cooper of the renowned Third World Band asked her to voice on his label, but only as Queen Paula. With singles such as “Fresh”, “Rule in a Town”, “Dem Mouth”, and especially “Magga Man”, which became popularized by Stone Love Sound System, Queen Paula became a household name amongst Jamaicans. She later became known in the Caribbean, beginning with Nassau , with her single “Red Red”, which charted in Nassau . She was requested to perform on the island, and thus her international break sending her to countries such as Canada , England , Grenada , Guyana , and the Unites States ( New York ).
Queen Paula has performed on major local shows such as Sting, Fully Loaded, Island Explosion, Hype in the Park, Champions in Action, Spring Break, Stone Love Anniversary and Follow the Arrow.
Her current singles “Ignorant Fi Dem” and “Too Sexy” (featuring Macka Diamond and Lady G) are getting positive responses both in the street and on the airwaves. Queen Paula’s experience over the years in music have made her grown tremendously. Paula’s intention is to become more consistent in the business, producing hit song, after hit song. Her major goal is to “wow” her way into the hearts of the music loving public. She advises young women coming into the business to be determined, as the challenges are more for females.
