maybe we'll get around to translating our minimanifesto at some point. until then it's just a little bit of ourstory here...

this party series known by the name of queer-o-matik was conceived in a pub called WAF-salon in berlin friedrichshain sometime in the late summer of 2004. three people met and realized that they never really liked going out in the mainstream lesbian-gay scene and particularly that these scenes are just so very expensive and exclusive in many other ways as well. hence the glorious idea to set up an off-mainstream party with free admission and cheap drinks for all the freaks and queers and kings and queens and in-betweens who feel that way too. soon the WAF-salon offered slots for the new party on the second and fourth thursday of the month. the very first queer-o-matik then was organized in the fall of 2004. can you believe it, we've been around for more almost four years now! ;)

over time, there was money left after the parties. it was donated to queer projects such as the alternative christopher street day in berlin, a training program for queer european youth workers, several movie projects, and other groups and projects. btw, if you, dear readers, need money for a queer project you are involved in, feel free to contact us via e-mail (queeromatik at gmx dot net) and we will work something out together!

queer-o-matik has always been spinning different kinds of music, even though there was an indie rock focus for a while. during the past year then, the music varied from trashy eclectic, queercore, j-pop, riot grrl tunes and hip-hop to minimal techno and drum'n'bass. make sure to check our flyers to see what's on the menue!
