Our S.P.O.T. (SAFE PLACE to ORGANIZE TOGETHER)
How dope would it be to have an LGBT youth center at the pier? Youth counseling, peer mentoring, health services, visual and performance arts space, job training, educational classes - sounds pretty hot, right? If you think it's time to have a center at the pier for LGBT youth, get down with FIERCE and fight for one. Real change can only happen through people power!
SAFE SPACE SAVES LIVES
Wonder why the bathrooms close at the Christopher St. Pier so much earlier than the actual pier does? So does FIERCE. Last year our members fought hard to keep the curfew on the pier extended to 1:00am instead of 10:00pm. We won. We also fought for the bathrooms to stay open longer, and for more affrodable food options at the pier. We are still fighting for these basic things. We need ALL LGBT YOUTH OF COLOR to be in this fight with us. Whose pier? OUR PIER!

About me:
FIERCE is a membership-based organization building the leadership and power of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth of color in New York City. We develop politically conscious leaders who are invested in improving ourselves and our communities through youth-led campaigns, leadership development programs, and cultural expression through arts and media. FIERCE is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of social justice movement leaders who are dedicated to ending all forms of oppression.
Please click below to watch a clip from Fenced OUT, a documentary about the struggle of LGBTSTQ youth of color to save the Christopher St. Pier and the West Village from re-development and gentrification. Want to see more? Email fencedout@fiercenyc.org to purchase your copy of Fenced OUT...
Who I'd like to meet:
BECOME A MEMBER OF FIERCE! There are many ways you can get involved. If you are a Transgender, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two-Spirit, Queer, or Questioning (TLGBTSQQ) youth of color between the ages of 13-24, you should join FIERCE!
There is something going on every week at FIERCE:
MEMBERSHIP MEETING: 1st Tuesday of every month
Want to know what FIERCE is up to? Want to meet more members? Are you new and wanna get down? Are you a member and haven't been around for a minute? The membership meetings are a great way to GET INFORMED and GET INVOLVED!!
LET'S POLITIK: 2nd Thursday of every other month
Let's start politiking over the issues that mean most to us. This is a space where we talk deeper than what's on the surface, and dissect why we experience some of the messed up things we go through. Let's Politik also features some of the most exciting workshops that deal with sex, gender, gender identity, and race.
WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS: Selected Wednesdays of every other month
Youth Devlopment is a very important part of FIERCE's work. Not only should you take up leadership but you should be well while doing it. Learn how to eat well, do self-defense, maintain and strong and healthy relationship!
FIERCE FRIDAY: Last Friday of every month
Parties, open mics, speak outs, workshops, discussions, movie nights - FIERCE Friday is where it's going down! Come meet other FIERCE members and chill out over some grub and peace conversation.
If you are interested in becoming a member, hit us up on myspace, give us a call at 646.336.6789, or check out our website at www.fiercenyc.org.
