'qr' is a young man with a special interest in music. He spend the last couple of years with his acoustic guitar. In fact, he started to play guitar on an old mandolin, that he inherited from his grandmother. Only a few years later, he bought himself an old acoustic guitar from his schoolfriend. The same instrument he is still playing today. He always found it easier to compose his own songs, rather than learning to play songs from others. Doing that, hes developed his very own style (actually out of a unableness than out of creativity), which is a combination of his soft voice with lovely indie-melodies and strumming blurry guitarplaying. The guitarplaying somehow seems (at first) kind of unusual in comparison with now-a-day radio rock/pop music. Thats because there are lots of changing rhythms and tempi. Though now, it is quite difficult to fit that into the context of a band. Maybe thats why he never tried to play in a band. The style could be called singer/songwriter. Thus a very unspecified genre; its some kind of (acoustic) guitar-based indie-rock music.
Singing in english as a german sometimes seems difficult. For him there was actually no choice - it is easier! cos the english language has a flow that fits quite good to rock/pop struktures. German though has a rough edge to it that works like a stakkato on an otherwise smooth flow.
The songs can be very different. They varify from a slow balad calmness (first date) to upbeat rock- stomping vividness (golden smile).
In case you like qr's music, you're most welcome to contact me, drop a comment or ask me to become your friend.
I will not accept selfpromoting bands.
Visions:
(Uschmann)
. . . this is just to let you know that my brother Philipp is in town and we will play a Crazy for Jane show at the Down by the River Festival on Saturday. The line-up is amazing, check it out www.myspace.com/downbytheriverfestival. We are so excited to be a part of this. It all takes place at Bar25. We go on at 2:45 in the afternnon, yes early, and we would love to see you by daylight. And then we can see all those other bands together. What do you say? If you want to come out tonight for a festival warm-up . . . they are screening "Berlin Song" at the Ping Pong Bar on Glogauerstrasse 21 at 9:30 p.m. tonight (Friday) and afterwards Crazy for Jane and Tomi Simatupang will play some songs. Yeah. So lots of opportunities to hang out and conversation and listen to music and watch clouds and the Spree and dreams and there is a swing at Bar25 . . .
"An exquisite and imaginative London talent, Windmill combines star-gazing and
shoe-gazing without a hint of mediocre middle ground..." - BBC
"Freakoid Americana that sounds like a lost Mercury Rev or Grandaddy album. Not bad for a one-man
band from Newport Pagnell." - NME
"Timeless and Graceful. Tales of asthmatics and fashion houses, plastic pre-flight seats and boarding
lounges that you can't help returning to." - THE GUARDIAN
"[...] an impressive album of displacement anxiety with sonics to match. Think Mercury Rev making
a break up album." - THE INDEPENDENT
