   About Quien es, BOOM!

---> BUY THE CD HERE

------ For a band with such a dramatic name, QBOOM! is actually a pretty modest group of guys. They silently and inconspiciously sprang up out of nowhere a couple of years ago, and after months of careful craftmanship and hard work, released a seven song EP last year called "Cast Your Burdends Aside". They don't make a big fuss over themselves, instead, they simply keep their nose to the grindstone, steadily building a loyal fan base through word of mouth and plenty of live shows around their hometown of Austin. The thing is, of all the bands that are just striking out and starting to make a name for themselves, QBOOM! actually deserves a little hype. One of the most original bands to come out of Austin in a long time, QBOOM! doesn't exactly play by the rules. Their genre-defying style is unmistakenly their own, borrowing from numerous influences but emulating noone in particular. Lead vocalist Dabney Dwelle's understated, aspirated vocals are uniquely suited for the music, which somehow makes electric guitars sound sutble, synth sound folky, and sophisticated, precise drumming sound oddly sweet and melodic. Perhaps their greatest strength is that they can take the most common instruments and play them in ways that are totally unexpected; but that's kind of the point, isn't it? Behind their unassuming exterior lies a suprising discovery. Who is Quien es, BOOM!? The answer will blow your expectations away. * Soundcheck Magainze. Emily Strong

------ "The American Western of the Fifties was pure grit. It was all about the rogue and the frontier that goes on for miles. That expansive feel can be applied to the full-length debut of local sixpiece Quien es, Boom! Opener "Brittle Britches" tethers itself to gentle melodies, quiet synth, and intricate drumming, a formula fully cranked on most of the album, thanks in part to indie super producer Jeremy Lemos (Wilco, Jim O'Rourke). Yet guitarists/songwriting axis Jason Butler and Dabney Dwelle's lyrics, at once haunting and uplifting, take center stage here". * Austin Chronicle. Audra Schroeder

------ "This is a CD release show for 'Cast Your Burdens Aside' (Sixgun Lover), the Austin act's debut album and one of the most melodically striking local indie rock records you're going to hear this year. Complex, subtle, drumming, electronic mumbles and impossibly clean guitar dance around each other, the detail in each step more impressive than the last."
* Austin American Statesman. Joe Gross

------ "Quien Es, BOOM! is one of my favorite bands to have formed in the last couple of years. The integration of americana, gospel, indie pop and rock elements combine for a truly special 7 track album. A couple months back i did a little feature on these guys and my respect for the band as only multiplied with the release of the album a few days ago. Album of the Year"!
* Call Me Mickey

I have heard your music, but my programming was just a diversion. Kevin, thank you for not being blatant about some of the the Wolf Eyes members' punk/noise band name and motivating recognition, if that was you somewhere else online.

I've forgottten the moonbelt platter sign. yes, it's about butter fried bling belts and givin' up the neon on a tuesday night. i always like to give up the neon before I woo the harpsichord arrangements out from underneath the snippy-toed light flyers. keepin' cool, yeah! - mints
