Influences
As Violeta Parra, Victor Jara, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Luis Advis in musics.
Pablo Neruda, some surrealist poets and the painter Roberto Matta, they have an important influence in our poetic and creative work.
Sounds Like
In fact is very particular style.
That depends on the song or instrumental piece we perform.
Our style is identified by the coral perform (3 or 4 voices, counterpoint, canons, imitations... ) and the use of folk instruments in our arrangements.
Our band was founded in 1965 in Chile by Eduardo Carrasco.
Leaded by Victor Jara, untill 1969 Quilapayun became wellknown very soon after the begining because of its vocal strength its original style and political comittement. .
In 1970, Salvador Allende, the new elected President of Chile, named our group as Cultural Ambassadors. Persecuted by the chilean junta after the military coup of General Pinochet that overthrowned Allende, our group got f political asile in France while Victor Jara was killed in Chile.
Our country has recovered democracy, three of ours members live now a days in Chile and five of us are living in France. We have perfomed in more than 35 countries and published about 32 long play records.
Recently we published 3 CDs DVD, "El Reencuentro", sort of report of our tour in Chile in 2003, "La Vida contra la Muerte", a compilation of very ancients never published songs and "Inti+Quila", a live CD DVD of the show produced whith our friends of the famous group Inti Illimani leaded by Horacio Salinas.
2005 has been the year of our 40th anniversary. We celebrated it at the Trianon theater in Paris. It was a tremendous 3 hours show with Inti Illimani and other friends. Other concerts for our anniversary took place in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Italy and Holland.
In 2006, we had 2 shows in October at La Cigale in Paris.
We've recorded a new CD; "Siempre"; that issued on July 2007 in Chile and South America, and may issue on 2008 in Europe. We've been back to Chile in August and November, in which tour we played with young orquestras.
In November we made a tour in Canada.
In January 2008 we made 9 shows in France, and we came back to Sweden.

Je me rappelle un concert... c'était il y a très longtemps... la marionnette de Pinochet dans la salle, assise comme nous autres spectateurs, nous glaçait le sang. Et vous sur scène ! Je suis restée fidèle depuis tout ce temps... pour la guitare, la musique, la voix !
