Quinn is a lion standing tall in the sunburnt Aussie music landscape.
A fantastic singer, energetic performer and conscious activist, he lives the life of a musician and takes head on the responsibilities that come with it.
Keeping hush on the absurdities of this society is not one of them!
"I love reggae and folk music. It's music that always has stood for the people, it's a great genre for expression and communication. I hope my music carries feelings on things that aren't getting much attention now - things like love, family, community, and spirituality. For too long have such pillars of society been weather-beaten by a powerful media, coercing us with contrary values."
Beginning as a solo folk singer, Quinn's performances started unassumingly, and evolved organically. "As I learned more about history, more about people and society, I felt driven to detail what I observed, creating little studies of modern life." Such stories and experiences are woven into the music - an Aussie reggae folk sound - brought about over years of live performance, with influences from many nations, NZ reggae, Sublime, John Butler Trio, some Carus Thompson and a wisp of Marley & the Wailer's good vibration.
So, the music is a political statement? "No. Politics is just one part of the story. Modern day politics isn't the answer to our problems. The solution starts where it always has, at home, with one's self and family, and stems outward from there into politics. The way foward is thinking for ourselves, challenging existing paradigms, asking why things are the way they are. That's why I've disregarded a lot of my high school education and started again, that's why I've chosen to be vegan, and that's why we need to address the important issues, because we can be so much more. In the end, it's up to the individual to do it their own way, to bring down the walls using the methods they think most appropriate."
Far from being perfect, Quinn recoginises how hard it is to choose your own path, rather than to go with the flow and be a part of the herd. "I'm just trying to care, to do something meaningful, like so many other good folks out there. We live in a beautiful world, and coming together to see the change we want has never been more alluring. Don't be afraid to do it!"
