Living a life out loud! I love being Irish, writing (everything from spots to scripts to fiction), the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, 9-Ball pool, Homebrewing (the best beer is ALWAYS your own beer), Ice Hockey, Good theatre, NASCAR or any other Stock Car racing (Stewart rox), Texas Hold 'Em Poker, Softball, Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Hiking, road trips, reading, Wine tasting, Beer tasting (and at times guzzling). Pretty diverse, eh?
If you like trying new beers and meeting new folks as well, check out the Hop Heads of Sacramento Beer Lovers Union, a group I started on Meetup.com for like-minded beer lovers who want to travel around to beer festivals, try new brews, check out new bars and restaurants, and just generally have a good time! Check out the site, and if you live anywhere near Sacramento, CA -- join up!
Saw this on a buddy's site and about pee'd myself it was so funny. So without further ado, I present to you, Spiders on Drugs:

Music
Okay, so I used to have this crazy long list of band names here, which either looks like I have a broad array of musical tastes or like I just don't know what the fuck I'm tlaking about. Who knows. So, granted, there's tons of stuff that if I hear I will crank and totally jam out to, of course. But if I had to break it down to my top five favorite bands ever?
5. Metallica:Say what you want, but the fact is these boys revolutionized metal. Motohead may have invented it, but these guys made it real.
4. Johnny Cash: Long before Joaquin Phoenix decided it would be cool to do a Cash flick, I was thumping my steering wheel to "Big River." There's just no one with the soul of Johnny Cash. No one with the empathy for the everyday working man of Johnny Cash. The Man in Black will always be legend to me.
3. Pink Floyd:People always talk about bands who survived the ages, bands with a singular sound like none other that can never be replicated, bands that evolved over time and like an earthy Barolo wine just get better with age. Regardless if your talking about Barrett, Gilmour or Waters, Pink Floyd is this band.
2. Green Day: What self-respecting Top 5 bands list would be complete without Green Day? I mean c'mon, these guys were the soundtrack to our lives in high school! Not since the 70's has a band really summed up the uncomfortable angst, the pent-up energy and fighting will to be bigger and better that we all felt in high school (and College) like Green Day. Don't believe me? Play the first 16 chords from "Welcome to Paradise" and just TRY to not jam out. It's just not possible.
Last but DEFINITELY not least ...
1. The Mighty Mighty BossTones: Where do I begin? I've been to 23 of the BossTones shows, and I don't say that to say "Woo-wee, look at Mr. High-and-Mighty with his 23 shows," but I mean that to say that the BossTones are worth every penny and more to be part of that experience. Flat out, they have always and will always kick ass. I never knew a rock show could be so much fun until I went to my first BossTones show at the Rathskellar in Kenmore Square in 1996. The cast members have switched around a few times, but the core members Dicky Barrett, Joe Gittleman, Joe Sirois, Tim "Johnny Vegas" Burton and Ben Carr have always been there. These guys are like family, man! For real -- at no other show do I go and feel like I'm watching my brother rock out on stage. Hands down my favorite band.
So the rumors are true. The greatest live band to ever play on a stage, the Mighty Mighty BossTones, my personal all time favorite band (as you saw above) are finally getting back together after a five year ... hiatus. Five years we die hard fans suffered through the kind of non-cerebral, digital, formulaic crap that modern rock radio slings at us. At long last, the wait is over, the boys are back in town ...
Recently I've been on this serious bitchfest about how lame modern rock has gotten (with only a few exceptions). The lyrics lack creativity, the themes are repetitive and everything just sounds the same after a while. Need proof? Check this out ...

Movies
If you haven't seen "Walk the Line" yet, do. I mean it ... right now! Go to Blockbuster and buy it -- don't bother renting it, because you will want to own it anyway. So just buy it. As for other flicks, I loved: Swingers, the Big Lebowski, Grosse Pointe Blank, The Departed, Sideways, Donnie Darko, Old School, Office Space, Boondock Saints, Braveheart, Pump Up the Volume, Glory, Slapshot, Gladiator, the Hurricane, the Ocean's 11 Trilogy, The Pirates of the Carribean trilogy, Boiler Room, Blues Brothers, anything by Kevin Smith, anything starring John Cusack or Robert Deniro (they just don't make a bad movie ... period), and ALL of the James Bond films (I'm a MASSIVE Bond fan).
Television
Shows Still Running: House, Flip That House (very different from "House", LOL!), Countdown w/Keith Olbermann (dude is a CHAMP!), Two and a Half Men, CSI, Law and Order, Family Guy and of course Football on Sunday.
Shows that have been Cancelled: Alias, The Sopranos, The West Wing, Seinfeld, the Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, the Drew Carey show, the Man Show (with Adam and Jimmy), the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Playmakers, Chapelle's Show, Dark Shadows (okay, I'll admit it).
One of the best TV quotes ever:"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers." - Cliff Clavin's Buffalo Theory from Cheers.
Just saw this online the other night -- certainly some food for thought. Check it out ...
Dan Brown's "Angels & Demons" & "the Da Vinci Code." LaHaye/Jenkins' "Left Behind" series, Paulo Coelho's "the Alchemist," John Neihardt's "Black Elk Speaks," Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" and Roy H. Williams "Secret Formulas" books. "The Audacity of Hope" by Barack Obama.
Heroes
Wayne Gretzky, Tony Stewart, Dicky Barrett, Barack Obama, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and my Mother. A strange list, I know. Check out my Blog on this topic for the full version.

The Mighty Quinn Quinn's MySpace page is going BYE-BYE thursday night 3/19! Find me on Facebook or LinkedIn instead! Posted at 9:15 PM Mar 16 from Mobile view more
About me: I'm one of the most open-minded yet bullheaded, outgoing, positive, enthusiatic people you'll ever meet (No shit!). I'm also one of the most honest and loyal friends you'll ever have (imagine the dog you had growing up who used to follow you around the house, then crawled into bed with you every night, that's me ... uh, minus the fleas and the odor, of course).
My life has changed pretty radically since December 2005, and as much as I miss the places I've lived before -- Humboldt, Cincinnati, Boston, the Vineyard -- I'd have to say I love where my life is heading. My little baby boy Hayden is now a year and a half old and has given my life new meaning and new purpose. Add to this, I live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth -- Monterey Bay, CA (once again reunited with the sea) -- and I love my career. So for the first time in my life, I am truly happy.
Getting a little more into what makes me tick: I like great wines, great beers, good food, movies that make me laugh my ass off and even the ones that piss me off. Unlike most Men, I am a study in duality: on one hand, I'm a die-hard muscle car fanatic and sports fan (GO SOX!), but I absolutely love good theatre, good books and deep conversations that last late, late into the night. Something few people know about me? I love to cook. Thai, Italian, Irish, Cantonese, you name it. From what I hear, I'm pretty good at it, too (Who knew? A hockey playin', former Frat boy that cooks -- Unreal!). Most defining characteristic? I'm full-blood Irish to the core and I've got the passion and temper to match. How's that for a summary, eh?
Something else I'm passionate about: Rebuilding New Orleans. It's been more than two years since that tragedy rocked our Country, and our dumbfuck of a President still sits on his greedy, sanctimonious ass and does nothing about it. We're off creating a deficit fighting the next Vietnam, meanwhile our fellow Americans still sit in feet of water and destruction! It's a cause I have donated to, volunteered for and care about deeply. My thoughts, prayers, and support of their commitment to rebuild are still with the people of New Orleans.
"To rebuild in the wake of Katrina and get our country back on course, we need to renew our commitment to one another. We need to return to this core principle of our great nation by honoring our responsibility to our fellow citizens." - Barack Obama
Who I'd like to meet: Wayne Gretzky, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Guglielmo Marconi, Roy H. Williams, Barack Obama, Keith Olbermann, Dicky Barrett (again, but this time for a few beers), Conan O'Brien, Ted Williams, John Cusack, Jack Black (c'mon, how cool would it be to have a few beers with Jack Black!), Vince Vaughn, Tony Stewart, Tom Brady, Jason Varitek, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and sooo many more I haven't mentioned here. The one man I always wanted to meet, my Father, I met about five years ago -- that pretty much dwarfed all the others as far as impact on one's psyche is concerned.
I think you'll like this. It's cool but a little creepy too haha. You need to follow these directions EXACTLY to get the correct results. Put the following into the address bar of your web browser. Type your favorite number between 1 and 999 and then type a dot and then type your favorite color and then type a dot and then type one word that best describes your mood and then type a dot and then type the word braintestiq and then type a dot and then type com and then click enter. Let me know how it turns out for you.

Barack is the man. I loved the speech he gave last night. But I'm going to love collecting the money for the Sierra stuff I sell on ebay or at a garage sale ;) Let's try again this weekend.
Howdy Quinn, how are you? Sorry about Saturday night, Courtney and I were having too much fun, but I hope you were able to get your campaign stuff done in time! : )
Hey Quinn, it's great to find you here. I can't seem to get the message link to work to email you privately, but can you email me at rskennan at gmail dot com? We have a lot of catching up to do!
Thanks for sharing your playlist - I really appreciate Johnny Cash too. What struck me even more was your use of the word "penultimate." It wasn't long ago that I got into a discussion about its meaning over dinner. I'm a sucker for good words, what can I say? :) Happy St. Patrick's Day to ya too!
