   About Quite Scientific

Cotton Jones' -Rio Ranger EP, the third installment in Qui-Sci's EP Book Series is available via our webstore!

In early 2008 Michael Nau's new face, The Cotton Jones Basket Ride sees the Page France front man venturing away from the Free Design tinged hand claps of his previous work and towards the chaotically charming beauty of Harry Nilsson singing along to The Velvet Underground. Cotton Jones is currently on tour in support of their debut full length, Paranoid Cocoon, released by Suicide Squeeze, watch for them to be playing a town near you. Visit Cotton Jones' MySpace Here for up to date tour dates.

Welcome to the QuiSci family - Lightning Love! On August 25th 2009 we re-released Lightning Love's debut album November Birthday. Redefining the term "power trio", Lightning Love has blasted out a place for themselves in the party pop genre with elephant guns a blazin'. Like a bull in a China shop, these pop debutants can carouse with the best of them.

This amazing pop album has been blasting out of our headphones non-stop for the past few months now. Since it's original self-release, November Birthday has become the tour de force pop release in southern Michigan. Having a tour opening for The Von Bodies now under their belts, these Ypsi-dwellers, are breaking out in a big way!

Matt Milia, David W. Jones, and crew of Frontier Ruckus, take the americana, backwoods-homespun-heirloom sounds of Stephen Foster, and give them a new understanding, with an unobtrusive modern edge. Top it off with the most intelligent lyricism you've heard in years, and you have Frontier Ruckus.

Watched closely at their SXSW & CMJ debut this in '08, you'll be seeing the band playing many festivals in '09, including several european tour dates. You can pick up their debut full length, The Orion Songbook, now HERE or via any major digital retailer. Also, the vinyl release by Lower Peninsula Records will hit in April of '09.

You can pre-order your copy now, which also includes a bonus six song EP entitled Way Up State & The Crippled Summer Pt.1, as well as a 11x17 poster. Check out LPR, and Pre-Order you 2x 12" Vinyl version of The Orion Songbook here.

Chris Bathgate's latest release a Slipt 7" w/ Hezekiah Jones (YerBird) The Asheville Squints is available via the Qui-Sci webstore!

The Asheville Squints features Chris Bathgate's Own Design and Hezekiah Jones' I've Got A Little Room (Cannonball), on this limited edition, hand-screened, individually numbered, vinyl 7". The split is also available for world-wide digital download via iTunes and all other major digital retailers.

Drunken Barn Dance - Drunken Barn Dance Re-released on Feb 17th 2009 by Qui-Sci. Drunken Barn Dance is the stinging, fuzz-folk creation of Scott Sellwood, a long-time member of Fred Thomas’ Saturday Looks Good to Me collective (K Records). As DBD, Sellwood has crafted a sparse, yet tuneful universe, frequented by the disowned, the disoriented and the devil herself. Mysterious, wry, honest, romantic and vulnerable, DBD is the neighbor you hear only at odd hours, the winsome girl across the party, the lonely boy at the record store. You can grab a copy HERE.

Thank you for friending up with us Mantons - I was watching my friends Frontier Ruckus at that CMJ thingy, and thought that was really cool. I also got to see Chris Bathgate for the first time @ Earthworks this year, and he was really good. You have some very talented people in your stable!
Best,
-Mike Anton (The Mantons)

we think we are lucky to live these lives we lead. to be a part of the cultural, political and scientific conversation of our time, while able to work one's way through life basically supporting oneself through their art. amazing! frustrating sometimes? yes. unfair sometimes...what isn't? know we are blessed. that is why it is imperative that we speak up. it is our responsibility for being so blessed.

I would be honored if you gave a little visit to the ‘crum. The first conversation of the month is with Todd Rohal, writer and director of The Guatemalan Handshake (which starred Will Oldham). The fulcrum also features fiction and artwork that is certainly worth a gander or two. http://themovablefulcrum.blogspot.com
Thanks!
