R5 Central: Podcasting at its finest..maybe's Blurbs
About me:
Welcome to the Official Myspace page of R5 Central: Podcasting At its Finest (...maybe).
Started in 2005 by host and producer, Mike Dent, "R5 Central" is the first podcast to headline Tokusatsu (i.e Godzilla, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, etc.) in addition to covering all Japanese Sub/Pop Culture (Anime, Cinema, Music, etc.), American Conventions/Cosplay, and Independent Music via the Podshow Podsafe Music Network and Myspace Music.
R5 is also well known in Tokusatsu and Anime fan circles. Not only was the podcast the only source on the internet to hear audio from the Chicago Film Festival Premiere of the "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation" trilogy (making headlines on Anime News Network, ToonZone, and Anime Nation as a result), but it has gained a reputation for being one of the most well produced podcasts on the web, living up to its tagline; "Podcasting at its finest". So much in fact that it gained a nomination for "Best Anime Podcast" at the 2007 Parsec Awards. In the words of one listener, "[R5 Central] is one of the most sophisticated podcasts I've ever heard."
With new episodes every other week and a growing fanbase, R5 Central shows no signs of dying out anytime soon
So what we've got here are streaming episodes to save the trouble of waiting for download times, courtesy of the Big Contact Player (that's the big thing below this intro that starts up playing the shows). Or you can subscribe to us via iTunes :P.
If You're Part of a Band/Record Label:
If you find that I've added you, it's most likely because I want to showcase your music for our Pick of the Week segment. Or you've just scrounged around for promotional opportunities and found me upon chance and wish to become part of the showcase. In either case, E-mail me via Myspace for details.
In the meantime:
Check out our Flickr sets with photos from our con adventures and other events.
Hey! Sorry I couldn't be at Otakon. I'm currently living in South Korea. Makes it a little more difficult to make it back. ^_^ Hope you had a good time!
KAIDAN is the term used for the Japanese ghost stories, and, extensively, for the J-Horror culture. The Buddhist moralizing stories were rapidly transformed into international shockers; people wanted more frightening monstrosities and oddness, with no direct connection with the Western horror.
Manga, anime, movies and the subcultures developed around them competed in shicks and panic. If you really want to know why on the Japanese horror movies is written 18+, take a look at the next issue of Otaku Magazine. Nevertheless, is our duty to warn you that all who looked inside certain pages of this issue have disappeared shortly after. Still, it might be just a story to send the children to sleep for good.
Next time I pick a hobby, remind me to pick one that doesn't involve costumes, wigs, props and or any of that stuff. It seems a whole lot like work. Super super FUN work... but WORK!
Hey my brother podcast. (Or sister...), I have a much better promo that is (unfortunately) 1.5 minutes long but it is definitely better than the one I sent to you a while back. And I did play your promo too but I will play it again. I need help getting viewers and fans for the show.
