We are sound gypsies playing and recording in the fields and hills with impromptu inspiration that makes our music and nature herself one, at any moment or location entirely beyond our choosing.
We spin our webs of sound spontaneously with a minimalist structure of two percussionists, voice and mix.
Our music, filled with prayers and festive spirits, is starting to be called “Neo-Shamanistic Groove” and “Jomon Trance” after being performed at over 80 live shows and outdoor music events in Japan and abroad.
- ’99 formed RaBiRaBi
- ’01
RaBiRaBi became azumi (voice, mix) and nana ( percussion) after a change in band members. We started to perform on the street and to cultivate the power to enjoy music with anybody at anytime and in anyplace. We also had recycling flea markets with people we met on the street, and released an album using part of the profit from these markets.
- ’06
We started to perform with drummer Piko, as [RaBiRaBixPiko] and to gel the inner core of our musical expression. We organized a variety of original events such as nage zeni (pay what you want) live shows, and a cash-back system for those who brought their own cup to the live house. We also make and sell cloth bags using second hand clothes.
at first the root starts to grow from your heart to connect with us
then that root branches out to link up with other people
again it grows connecting even more people…
and finally we wish that it can create a new pattern of japan…
