Bio
☞Melodic seeker/purveyor of light, love, happiness n' humour Rachael Brady and long time friend/songwriting partner/guitarist Nigel Kerr offer up, with open arms and hearts, their cross pollinated brand of acoustic soul folk, singing personal songs of tribulation and uplift as well as universal songs of connection. Brady and Kerr are “guaranteed to give a memorable and always uplifting performance - not just because she has a truly phenomenal voice but also because her music has genuine depth, beauty and intelligence." (Cygnet Folk Festival, Tasmania) Described as “sweet and heartfelt”, “inspired and inspiring”, Rachael’s hard-line but delicate folk songs have been captivating fans across the globe since the release of her debut album "Peace by Peace" in 2006. She has been regularly featured on Triple J Unearthed and touted as an artist to watch, has a huge following online and has toured successfully in the USA. A self described peaceful revolutionary, she has a strong social and spiritual conscience, and a truly remarkable voice that extends itself effortlessly from whisper to steel belted wail. She hails from Brisbane Australia, but now calls The Blue Mountains (west of Sydney) home and is also joined by long time collaborator and guitarist Nigel Kerr, the two delivering an intimate and diverse collection of acoustic tunes that mine the veins of a number of musical genres covering subjects both deeply personal and reassuringly universal. In 2007 they contributed a previously un-released track to the Brisbane based songwriters charity collective cd "The Hopesmiths Project" appearing alongside other indie luminaries such as Tyrone Noonan, Bobby Flynn, Jackie Marshall, Chris Pickering, Danny Widdicombe, Tom Cooney and others. She is also one-fifth of a vocal collective called the 'Women of the Blue Mountains' which features some of Australia's most accomplished independent female musical artists; jazz pianist & composer Tracey Campbell, singer/songwriter/pianist Robyne Dunn, traditional folk harpist Dawn Egan and newcomer Georgia Pearson-Bourke. -
