One of my musical hero's is Carrie Akre formerly of Goodness and Hammerbox. Here she is with Goodness. The song is Wicked Eye from their self titled album.
(Have been compared to BY OTHERS:)
Aimee Mann, Anne Wilson (Heart), Concrete Blonde, Carrie Akre, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, Melissa Etheridge, etc.
Rachael Layne hails originally from North Idaho and has lived most recently in Spokane, Wa. for a number of years. Rachael has been a singer/songwriter since a very young age.
Rachael enjoys singing and writing original music. She knows what she likes and that is what really matters. "As long as I am being true to myself and writing about things that come from my personal life and experiences, that is what makes my music special to me. You have to be a fan of your own music to truly have faith in it and in yourself. Music is a therapeutic outlet for me. Even if no one ever hears it I still treasure every song, every note, and every lyric because it is something that came from me at some point in time when it made me feel better to actually verbalize that emotion or feeling. It certainly sweetens the song if someone truly enjoys it, or identifies with it. That is really the iceing on the cake. I make music because I love it, not because I want to make a bunch of money on it or get a whole lot of recognition. I'm not in it for the business. I am in it to make something fun and beautiful that I can enjoy and be proud of."
One of Rachael's more proud accomplishments was when her song "Presenting To You" appeared on a benefit CD compilation. (The CD was put together by an amazing group of musicians and caring individuals who wanted to help 2 little boys who have been burned over 60% of their bodies in an unlikely gasoline fire.)
Rachael wrote the track especially for the album and this specific song is currently only available on the CD. Please, pass on and visit the NOTES OF HOPE MYSPACE and purchase a CD. 100% of the funds collected are donated directly to the injured children. :)
