"An Ignorant but entertained populace is especially dangerous in a democracy, where the ignorant majority, basing their votes on 30-second TV commercials, can outvote the educated minority."

Books
Most recently- Confederacy of Dunces

Heroes
people who commute on their bikes, even in the rain. people who take care of sick animals. toll collectors, they hang out in the middle of the road and say $2 over and over and over again, and breath gross car exhaust all day long. i mean the fact that they don't get pissed off and just start freaking out is pretty amazing!
