Rachel Dupard was born August 1995, at the age of three she could not speak words properly and it was later discovered that she had inner ear dysfunction. The doctors recommended surgery to correct. After the surgery, Rachel started hemorrhaging and would have lost her life had she not been rushed back to the hospital in time for them to stop the hemorrhaging.
Throughout the process of healing and speech therapy, she joined the City Temple Seventh-day Adventist Children's Choir at the age of six. One day, she started singing with a "Big" voice and her choir director began to give her solo parts. She accepted with pleasure and has not stopped singing since....a true miracle!
Since then, Rachel has been invited to sing at many church events, talent shows and all types of celebration functions. She appeared on Dallas Fox 4 Insights, opened for our United States Chaplin, Barry Black, shared the stage with Ms. Irma P. Hall of the hit movie "Soul Food" and recently traveled Internationally to Bermuda to perform as a solo artist in a children's concert!
She has a couple of broadway productions under her belt, performing with The Black Academy of Arts and Letters under the Direction of Mr. Curtis King. She was young Billie Holiday in "Rhapsody in Rhythm" and performed the Stephanie Mills version of "Home" in the Wiz where she was the finale act. Rachel is currently in vocal and acting classes to expand on her career goals.
Many people compare her voice to Gospel Great, Mahalia Jackson and the Soulful, Lauren Hill. She is humbled every time she's told how beautiful her voice is because she knows it is a blessing from God and God alone. Rachel loves to sing and she's using her voice to help other young people rise above any problems that come their way. She aspires to become a vocal artist and actress. Her favorite quote is "Never give up and never give in."!
Rachel released her first CD demo project January 27, 2009 with Grammy Award winning producer, Madukwu Chinwah who has worked with Eryka Badu, Kirk Franklin, N'Dambi, Snoop Dogg, Raven Symone, Sy Smith and many, many others. We request your support as this determined 13 year old girl advances in her accomplishments.
This myspace is managed by Rachel's her parents. Rachel enjoys hearing from everyone and reads the comments and messages you leave under her parents supervision. Due to Rachel's busy schedule she cannot always personally reply to your comments and messages but they are greatly appreciated.
