Band Members	Rachel Gittus ( Solo Performer) BECOME A FAN * join Rachel Gittus Fanclub on Facebook * BIO Rachel Gittus was born in February 1981 , in Banbury, England ,the hometown of folk rock musicians 'Fairport Convention '. The 'Cropredy sound' has not had a direct influence on her music though and she prefers to express her own colourful experiences of life and its flip side too through the mediums of painting on canvas as well as within the realm of music . The stunning results can be heard on her self-penned debut solo album ' Beautiful' . Recording 'Beautiful' she assembled the contributions of well respected musical friends and musicians Ric Sanders of Fairport on Fiddle , PJ Wright on Harmonica , Matt Watson on Base , Jude Reece on Oboe and Ian Bramble on Piano. Rachel's songs are for the most part concerned with contemporary social issues although always sublty addressed. Appearing simplistic on the surface others clearly lay out deep reflections of her own life experiences. Some of these experiences of the darker moments are at times reminiscent of the life and poetry of Sylvia Plath as can be heard in the song '' Imagination'' . All the more remarkable is the fact that Rachel did not discover Sylvia Plath until 5 yrs after the song had been written! Rachel can muster the attention of a room and hold her audience in a semi-hypnotic state as her music envelopes the room leading you to where all is 'Beautiful' as she paints pictures with her songs. Once you have experienced Rachel's music and let it seep into your unconcious you may wonder how you ever lived without it. Comparisons are at best vague but her work can hold its own alongside the best of modern female songwriters like Ani Di Franco , Tori Amos, Cat Power , Mary Chapin Carpenter
