About me: I have a big heart. I'm equal parts homebody and social butterfly, but sometimes one side wins out bigtime. I talk a lot but am a really good listener. I can be shy sometimes too (for real). I like writing, cupcakes, babies, Boggle, green tea, fuzzy sweaters, dirty minds, glitter, comedy shows, fishnets, lipstick, platform shoes, cheesy movies, giving backrubs, entering contests, greeting cards, and reading. I'm a bigger nerd now than I've ever been and I've got the t-shirt to prove it. I'm 31 but more often feel about 13. I wear jeans (my one pair) running errands on the weekends but other than that, I wear skirts or dresses.
I'm scared of cars. I have a terrible poker face. I'm very competitive, even (or especially) when I'm playing Wii. I love babies and look forward to being a MILF someday relatively soon (while I can still have kids!). I run a reading series but get stage fright and butterflies in my stomach every time I step up to a mic. My worst vice is that I drink several liters of Diet Coke every single day. That, and hardcore procrastination. I'm dreaming of a vacation on a sunny beach. All the time. I love warm days, long walks across bridges from one borough to another.
I work out at Crossfit NYC (also see their MySpace page) with Allison five times a week. Getting my ass kicked is fun! I can do back squats with 155 pounds and am getting stronger every day. Highly recommended.
Perhaps a non sequitor, but then again, my life seems to be a non sequitor, I'm also the founder and co-editor of the blog Cupcakes Take the Cake.
Watch me play Ms. Pacman at SXSW:
I am a proud supporter (read: payer of overdue fees) of the New York Public Library. I'm writing my first novel, Everything But..., for Bantam, and hope to write a nonfiction book about sexual politics at some point too, but one thing at a time.
I'm a writerholic (I just coined that word), a bit too compulsive about my bylines, but I'm working on trying to relax and take vacations and still do everything I want to do. And laugh more often.
My latest anthology is Dirty Girls: Erotica for Women, published by Seal Press, and it has its very own blog. You'll find interviews with the contributors and lots more there.
Who I'd like to meet: People who make me laugh, people who make me think, people who teach me things, creative, interesting, fun types who aren't drama queens and don't take themselves too seriously, people who make me want to be a better person. Artists, writers, comedians, connectors, dreamers. People with flaws they aren't too proud to expose. People with secrets I have to work hard to learn. Works in progress. People who are unlike anyone I've ever met. And, of course, people who love cupcakes (though that is optional). I'm here to connect/reconnect with friends and keep up with all that's going on, especially with my performer friends, not so much (read: not at all) to get dates.
Happy Bornday (Birthday) to you Rachel! I'm sure that you'll have a "few" cream topped cupcakes to celebrate your special day. Friendly birthday hugs from my side of the Atlantic.
