Rachel Marta...

I was born in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, U.K. I attended Carrick Grammar, and my days there I remember fondly... I developed a passion for many things - from Shakespeare to Photography! I later lived in Stirling, Scotland for three years as I completed my BA Degree in Film & Media Studies, and also spent a year studying abroad in Kansas. In all the places I've lived, studied at, and worked, I have gained precious friendships and enjoyed wonderful experiences.

Before coming to Chicago to complete a Masters degree and work in Radio, I lived in Ecuador, South America ...and it was while there that I came across an interesting American-African chap. Just when I was happy being single and thought a cat would be all I needed in life to keep me company, God sent Daniel along; and although cats are pretty good company, I have to say, Daniel's just what I've always wanted! He even learnt some Shakespeare for me - which he recited just before he gave me a ring on top of the Eiffel Tower - is that dedication - or what?! ;o)

After three years working as a Radio Producer and Reporter in Quito, I arrived in Chicago, started working at WMBI, finished my Masters.... then started working at Columbia College Chicgao. I still work part-time as a Producer/co-host, which keeps me busy.

This Semester I started teaching in the English Department of Columbia College - so that's keeping me busy! In other news.... Hamlet & Opehlia had four more babies, (previosuly they had 2 -Scarlett O'Hara and Dickens...) who are my little precious mites! The latest were: MacBethy, Portia, Maggie Thacther / Maggie-Moo, and Winston Churchill. We found great homes for them all; but get regular updates from them - Maggie-Moo especially.
