"The Cider House Rules" has the best ending ever.
"White Teeth" made me laugh on almost every single page.
I've read "Gone With the Wind" over and over.
"We Don't Live Here Anymore" is a masterpiece study on marriage.
關於我: I am an aspiring author with one novel finished and a second one in the works.
My first novel, "Honorable Intentions", was a finalist (top five) in both the 2007 Gival Press Novel Competition and the 2007 Novello Festival Press Literary Competition. The story line is a terrorist has struck on American soil. The novel details the responses of two families affected by the attack: an Afghan American family unjustly accused of supporting the terrorist and the response of a family who survives the attack. The book highlights the plight of innocents held under the Patriot Act, but also explores the struggles our society has with cultural and religious tolerance. It raises the following question: Is it possible to protect civil liberties while protecting national security?
Cerebral as that may sound, the book is primarily character-driven as the story unfolds to reveal the best intentions of all involved, from a closed-minded preacher who wants to protect his country and family from the perceived threat of Islam, to his progressively minded daughter, who is in love with the son in the Afghan American family. The younger Afghan Americans in the story struggle with the challenge of straddling two conflicting cultures as they attempt to exonerate their innocent father, while their mother tries to digest how a country that once welcomed her could now consider her husband a suspect. My agent, Ellen Pepus of EPLA, has submitted the manuscript to a number of excellent editors at major publishing houses. I'm working on book number two while we wait.
我想認識: John Irving, Alice Munro, Zadie Smith, Zack Braff.
The writer/director combo who are responsible for "21 Grams", "Babel" and "Amores Perros".
Other writers and artists to engage in inspirational discussions.
I've already met an amazing agent to represent my work. Now I'm looking for a an editor at a publishing house to champion the piece to publication.

I’m rather excited because I have a small part in an upcoming film based on Steve Aylett’s book LINT. Remember how “Spinal Tap” was a spoof on Heavy Metal bands and “The Ruttles” was a take-off on The Beatles? Now, Science Fiction has LINT!

"Science, politics, economics and spirituality fuse explosively in this visionary thriller. In some far future--or is it past?--Philip K. Dick nods with satisfaction."
--Jeffrey Satinover, physicist and psychiatrist, author of The Quantum Brain. Dr. Satinover appeared in the film What the Bleep Do We Know?
Thanks for the add, Rachel. Would love to talk more about my book, just as I would be interested to learn more about yours! If you have any ideas on how we can start a discussion, do let me know. :-)
