Surrounded by music since she was a small child, the 19 year old singer, songwriter Rachel Mosleh has been blessed with ’Old Soul’ and a deep appreciation for the classics. ’’There are so many influences, I love Mavis Staples, Betty Wright, Ann Peebles, Betty Harris, Angie Stone and of course Aretha! If I’m ever down, my girls cheer me up.’’
Leaving behind the gritty streets of Hull and moving away from her family and friends to make Brighton her new home, Rachel studies at The Brighton Institute of Modern Music under the guidance of the likes of Carleen Anderson. ’’I love Brighton it’s such a creative place full of oppeortunities and a place where I can perform any night of the week with my band, and I’m surrounded by inspirational people who i’m constantly learning from.’’ ’’It was very important to get a band behind me as I feel too many singers perform to backing tracks and their albums are full of samples and synth instruments. That’s cool, but for me it’s about a few guys on stage with their instruments playing together and feeding off each other, just like all the great’s!’’
