RACHEL RICHARDS’ AUSSIE SPIRIT
The new single Carry On from RACHEL RICHARDS is a great introduction to her brand new album Beautiful Dreams, due for release on 5 October.
An inspirational story, co-written by Rachel with DAVE RICHARDS and producer STUIE FRENCH, Carry On tells of our great Aussie spirit when times are tough.
The song is a perfect window into the special talents of this unique balladeer who paints musical canvasses of Australian stories and characters.
Following her win at the 2008 Australian Bush Balladeers Star Quest, Rachel released her successful debut album I’m A Country Girl and was winner of the New Talent awards at both the Gidgee Coal Bush Ballad Awards and Stan Coster Memorial Awards at Bungendore.
But it’s the latest album Beautiful Dreams that really sets a new benchmark for Rachel. Wonderful stories based on her personal experiences – many drawn from travelling around Australia for 10 years as a crane driver, working on various construction jobs with husband Dave.
With innovative production by Stuie French and featuring a cast of Australia’s finest musicians, Beautiful Dreams is a compelling collection.
“It's a collection of stories about my life and the lives of those around me,” explains Rachel, “and I have put my heart and soul into this to make you feel something – happy, sad, to remember the past, and to delight in the future.”
The launch of RACHEL RICHARDS’ new album Beautiful Dreams has drawn enthusiastic reaction from both the country music industry and fans, like Deborah Minter in Capital News "There is something magic about this new album .. the best qualities of what makes Australian country so special .. the musicianship is simply awesome and perfectly matched to Rachel’s remarkable story songs."
Following the success of the first single Carry On which gained widespread national airplay comes the poignant new single Going Home.
“This is my ‘home is where the heart is’ or ‘where you hang your hat’ song,” says Rachel. “Why does going to the place that I was born have to feel like going home? The memories are there, but there are new memories to be made in my new home town.” A powerful and compelling song.
"Going Home", released mid December has an accompanying video clip to watch out for on CMC, by imagine media, John and Greg have really bought this story song to life with their fine production.
The new album is fantastic, a brilliant album full of the talents of Stuie French, Brad Bergen, Michel Rose, Chris Haigsley and Ian Lees. Stuies Production is terrific and the album is getting rave reviews.
The songs are 11 self penned tracks, (co writes too with the likes of Stuie French, Keith Jamieson and Dave Richards), But there is a speical song called "Rose Beside The Highway" written by Tony Jewell, this is a touching song written by a great writer and tells of his days as a Traffic Police Man attending the worst car accident he had seen. It tells of how he held the little girls hand as she called to her mummy who had unfortunately passed away at the scene. It's sure to bring a tear to the eye.
REVIEW FROM CAPITAL NEWS MAGAZINE DECEMBER 2009
"There is something magic about the new album by RACHEL RICHARDS, Beautiful Dreams. She has a rare ability to instil obvious merriement, sand unfeigned enjoyment in her vocals. It is a deeply endearing quality. This new album has a wealth of beautiful songs, mostly written by Rachel, some with the assistance of producer STUIE FRENCH. Naturally with Stuie on board, the musicianship is simply awesome and perfectly matched to Rachel's remarkable story songs. THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN BUSH reminisce of childhood memories, WE'VE GOT IT GOOD compares how life has progressed since then. BEAUTIFUL DREAMS is a heartbreaking track about love holding back the dreadful tide of Alzheimrs. HANDLE WITH PRAYER is a delightful play on words, BOWLING IN HEAVEN honours the memory of a darling nana a charming way to deal with loss. Rachel shows us the best qualities of what makes Australian Country so special, in her open hearted friendly style, she makes it seem so effortless.
