THE ORIGINATORS, THE INNOVATORS, THE ORIGINAL GLAM PUNKS...
When Rachel Stamp formed in 1995 they not only created some of the most decadent, brilliantly off-kilter Rock n’ Roll music to ever come out of the UK, they also inadvertently paved the way for the hundreds of eye-liner smudged, heart-on-your-sleeve bands that currently fill stadiums and magazines the world over.
But back in the days of Britpop Rachel Stamp were an anomaly. Fusing razor blade riffery with space age electronics and a glam punk image, the band stood out a mile from the Blur and Oasis clones of the time. Reaction to Rachel Stamp from both the public and the press was extreme- either religious devotion or outright hatred. One minute the band was being bottled as they opened for Korn’s first UK show, the next they were playing to 500 screaming kids in London’s notorious Camden Falcon (the capacity was 300) whilst 200 more rioted outside. After that show a girl handcuffed herself to the lead singer and swallowed the key. Within the year the band were headlining sold out tours through the UK and Europe...
In April 2009 SERENA Records released 'NOW I'M NAILED TO YOUR BEDROOM WALL I'VE ONLY GOT MYSELF TO BLAME... THE BEST OF RACHEL STAMP'. The band celebrated the release with a sold out show at London's Islington O2 Academy and recently announced the RAW TOUR 2009.

I am taking part in a voluntary work expedition to Borneo with Raleigh International this spring and need a little help fundraising for Raleigh (costs for materials and sponsorship of underprivalaged young people). I am doing a fun run dressed as Santa this December (amoungst other things) and would really appreciate support.
