Racing For Pinks is a newly formed band made up of three musicians from other recent Gulf Coast bands. James Gillies (James Gillies Band), Alex Rogers (Consumption) and Terry Kovacevich (13ON).
Taking their name from a line in the movie Grease, ("We're racing for pinks. Pinks? Pinks you punk.") R4P is attempting to bring something a little different to the Coast music scene by bridging two unmistakable eras of music. Melding the sounds of late 50's & early 60's hits with the raw energy and attitude of mid-late 70's punk rock. Think Buddy Holly meets the Ramones (Gabba Gabba Oh Boy?).
