The Dallas Fort Worth area is host to some of the most exciting and competitive drag racing events in the country. It is an area rich with history as quarter mile legends like Vance Hunt, Raymond Beadle, Billy Meyer and Kenny Bernstein all have pounded the DFW pavement for decades. In those days, Dallas International Motor Speedway in Lewisville and Green Valley Raceway in Fort Worth were the best ticket in the house to see everything from Super Stockers to “Big Daddy” Don Garlits’ Top Fuel Dragster.
My how the times have changed. These days the drag racing scene is as equally active and has evolved into a much bigger business. The metroplex currently offers four different sanctioned drag strips within an hour of the metro area. The Texas Motorplex in Ennis is an NHRA quarter mile megaplex where world records have been broken and irreplaceable memories have been made. Texas Raceway in Kennedale, Redline Raceway in Caddo Mills and North Star Dragway in Denton are all 1/8th mile drag strips commonly referred to as local tracks, but the racing is equally intense at these tracks as anywhere else in the nation. Here you can not only run your street car or any style racecar on a regular basis but also look forward to feature weekends when the Texas Outlaw Pro Mods, Royal Purple Outlaw Fuel Altereds or even the fan favorite jet cars may make an appearance.
Racing Sports Live is a brand new radio show broadcasted on 105.3 FM Sunday mornings from 10AM to 11AM that is totally focused on the white knuckle, ground pounding action that goes on at each of the area drag strips as well on the national level in NHRA and IHRA competition. Behind the new show is host Eric Marc of Pugs and Kelly fame with support from co-hosts Joseph (J.C.) Campbell and Chris Graves, both long time drag racing fans and participants who together will not only bring you up to date on all the local news and events but also get you involved on the air during Racing Sports Live every Sunday morning.
“This show is for the fans and racers. We want to expose the fans to the racers and racers to the fans all while promoting the Dallas Fort Worth drag racing scene as much as possible. It is a big opportunity for everyone as sportsman and professional drag racing continues to grow along with the entire metroplex itself. I want to thank everyone at 105.3 for their support in our efforts to bring Racing Sports Live into the mainstream,” explains J.C.
The show is not yet a month old and has already established a following with fans and racers alike. Exclusive interviews from community drag racers like Kenny Barnes, Allen Meyer, Jimmy Jones and Spencer Massey will be regular each week. Racing Sports Live wants you to get involved as well by joining us on the air Sunday mornings and talking drag racing with Eric, J.C. and Chris.
“Racing Sports Live has tremendous potential due to not only the huge racing fan base in the area but also the support from such a high caliber network as 105.3 FM, which is crucial. Drag racing fans are some of the most dedicated people in the world. The passion behind a drag racing enthusiast cannot be compared and our passion for bringing you a quality drag racing radio show to Dallas/Forth Worth will create a fun and informative program for everyone involved. We really encourage the fans to become a part of the show because after all, it is for them. We want to know what you want to know!” says co-host Chris Graves, senior at the Univ. of North Texas.
Look for Racing Sports Live representatives at the tracks and get involved. On air coverage from Wednesday night fun and grudge, drag boats and bikes to NHRA and IHRA national events will be featured every week along with exclusive interviews and much more. The team is searching for sponsorship and marketing partners. Please call 972-697-9381 to speak to a representative. It’s all drag racing all the time, for racers by racers, on 105.3’s Racing Sports Live!
