Influences
Music: At RadioBoise.org we stream over 30 locally produced music programs ranging from African rhythms and Latin salsa to Americana, electronic, and Hip-Hop. Our programmers come from all over the country as well as Columbia and Nigeria.
Issues and Community Affairs: BCR airs locally produced information programs such as Digital Crossroads (politics, privacy, free speech), Sagebrush Variety Show (politics, satire), Gourmets (Chef Robert), Vox (local voices) and Outside the Frame (commentary). “Sagebrush” is being carried by terrestrial and internet-based stations in ID, NY, VT, WA, CA, MO, MD and LA. Over 25 different issues-oriented programs are now available on RadioBoise, including daily editions of Democracy Now! and Free Speech Radio News.
PSAs: Local non-profit organizations and government agencies have utilized the webcast to air hundreds of public service announcements and other notices about community activities and services.
Radio Boise is a grassroots, volunteer-based, nonprofit organization established in 2002 to create southwest Idaho’s only locally programmed, independent, noncommercial radio station.
Goals and Purposes:
-Inform, stimulate and energize our listeners by providing music, culture, and issues-oriented radio programming.
-Provide a local and regional information clearinghouse, inspiring creative dialogue to stimulate social, cultural, political and environmental awareness.
-Create and encourage opportunities for underrepresented voices in the community to access local media.
-Cultivate a performance platform for the creative skills of local musicians, writers and performing artists.
Our internet broadcast, at www.RadioBoise.org, already offers 24-hours of programming a day.
