Once upon a time, a small shop on the South Shore captured the hearts and minds of many a child who dreamed of radio waves permeating the air, controlling smaller than life cars, trucks, and planes. In the shop's backyard lay a formidable track which brought many an R/C fan's hopes for victory crashing down around it's hairpin turns and the indomitable passion of the stores owner. Perhaps the most fervent of competitors though, was the owner's eldest daughter. Spurning the typical chores of children her age, she early on found an almost preternatural ability to control these agents of speed and learned of the only place they would be accepted and revered; the city of Boston.
Once upon a time, a small boy waded through the swamps of central Massachusetts dreaming of a city to the east. His only references were found on the radio, a poor substitute for his "we sing silly songs" tapes. As he grew older though, the radio stayed the same and he found himself listening more and more to the dj's and to the commercials. His parents tried to sway the child from these dirty jingles with the uplifting tones of Jackie Wilson & some singing grapes, but to no avail. His mind jailed by the rush of din every commercial brought with it, he kept in the back of his mind his sure and only escape; being old enough to drink the radio away. With a lot of beer.
It was in these ways, they grew; controlling radios and being controlled until the fateful New Years Eve they met and formed:
RADIO CONTROL
THE EARLY SONGS:
Emerging sweaty and solemn from the basement of Friendly Square, K. Control & M. Radio dropped to their knees, searching for more beer. Unfortunately for our heroes, the shining yellow beast of the square had gotten to the mini-fridge first. Parched and unable to continue they trudged back down the rickety stairs digging through the dirty ass recycling bin full of empties. After much dripping work they were able to fill two pints full of larry leftover from the musical thirsts of glines, javelin, vent, tough but fair, and the musical theatre.
It is in this constant desperate thirst for drink that these songs of passion were written.
