The Unforgettable Kenny Page's Interests
|
| General | Back in the mid nineteen nineties I used to listen to Tay FM. I had never quite heard anyone like Kenny Page before on radio. He presented the Drivetime show. He was a creative genius. Talented, entertaining, original and extremely funny. Kenny started out presenting on Radio Clyde in 1974 with his show "Ken's Korner."
Then he joined Radio Caroline's sister ship Mi Amigo in 1976 before moving on in 1977 to join The Voice of Peace ship becoming head of music there.
In 1980 he joined the new radio station in Dundee called Radio Tay and helped set up the station. He was the station's first head of music. Then he left to go back to the Voice of Peace until the ship was closed down in 1993. When Radio Tay split into two frequencies Tay AM and FM. Kenny came back to Dundee and became Tay FM's first drivetime presenter in January 1995. He stayed there until August 1997 then headed off to Cyprus for three months working on a radio station there before heading back to Britain and joined Virgin Radio in January 1998 where he did some producing and popped up occassionaly as a comedy character. He came back to Dundee in the Summer of 1998 and joined a new radio station in Fife called Kingdom FM and became the first drivetime presenter with the station. Kenny left due to ill health as and sadly he passed away in July 2002 but my memories of him never fade. Truly unforgettable.
