Thank you all for the support, we hope you continue to make our 2009 just as exciting and eventful. In November of 2007, two womyn met and decided that it would be a wonderful idea to unite stories of immigrant womyn in Los Angeles with stories of importance to the Womyn's Movement in Guatemala, Central America.
What began as an idea materialized and the host of VOCES DE MUJERES, a Guatemala Based Radio Program allowed MUJERES ABRIENDO CAMINOS to introduce themselves via airwaves in February of 2007 in Guatemala City.
During the year 2007, MAC interviewed and retold the stories of:
Academia Semillas del Pueblo, a charter school fighting to continue serving children of immigrant parents by teaching them global languages, mayan mathematics, tai-chi, and native culture. www.dignidad.org

Celebrando L@s Nin@s de La Tierra / Celebrating the Children of the Earth takes place Sunday, May 3rd, 2009, noon to 4PM, in Long Beach at the LB Organics Wild Oats Community Garden at 10th Street and Grand Avenue.
We invite families from all over the greater Los Angeles area to come and participate as we celebrate children from all over the Earth!
We are a grassroots collective of families who came together and shared our dreams about organizing a children's event in Los Angeles focused on education through art and self-expression. We realize that children, just like adults, learn best by example. So we thought that we could bring together different artists, activists, educators, parents, community members, etc, to create a festival that allows for our children and our community to dance, sing, create and share communal space.
