I would say that I am a well rounded person and thus my interests are fairly eclectic, but the big three are music, movies, and art.
Music
My musical interests begin with the Jazz of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, the Blues of B.B. King, and Buddy Guy, and Rock and Roll. I do listen to a broader scope of music and artist but those are the fundamental building blocks of my musical tastes.
I have to say that there is no substitute for live music, especially from small artists and up and coming bands. The stuff that’s not played on Top 40 Pop radio stations is where it’s at. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of my concert experiences, those in the smallest coffee shops and those in the largest festival venues.
Here is a short list of artist that I have seen in concert: Almond Brothers
Band, DMB, Drive By Truckers, B.B. King, Weezer, Tenacious D, Widespread Panic, Buddy Guy, Jack Johnson, The Frames, Old Crow Medicine Show, Wynton Marsalis, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Gillian Welch, Government Mule, G.Love, Yonder Mountian String band, Alejendro Escevode, Will Hoge,Umphrey's McGee, and so many more
Movies
I enjoy a good laugh so I have to say that Comedies are on the top of my list when it comes to movie preferences. I do watch movies for cinematic and artist value so that shapes my tastes as well. Here is a short list of some movies that I own: The Boon Dock Saints, The Big Lebowski, High Fidelity, PCU, The Usual Suspects, the Lord of the Rings trillogy, Rushmore, Pump UP the Volume, Office Space, Death to Smootchie, Mallrats, Blazing Saddles, The Tao of Steve, Sleepers, Fight Club, Animal House, and Almost Famous
Television
Comedies again are at the top of my viewing preferences. I watch Comedy Central all the freaking time. I generally dislike reality TV, the exception to this rule is if it's on the Discovery Channel. I am also amending the previous staterment to include Last Comic Standing. I have a TIVO, need I say more.
Books
If Al Franken wrote it then I read it. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is one of my all time top ten favorite books along with High Fidelity. I have to admit that a large chunk of the books that I own are poetry. One of my favorite poets is Charles Bukowski, Chuck is just so raw and gritty how can you go wrong with that.
I will start by saying that I am a straight shooter. If you want my honest opinion I will give it to you. I can’t count the number of times that I have been told that I am a nice guy so let’s go with that too. I am a firm believer that you should treat everyone better than you would want to be treated yourself. If you want to know more about me you will just have to get to know me.
Who I'd like to meet: Musicians, Artists, Radio Professionals, and other Cool People
I'll figure something out eventually. I'd prefer to stay in Chicago, but who knows. Right now it's more about finding a place that won't drive me insane.

It's your birthday! Go crazy! Party like a rock star! Or just sit around in your underwear and watch TV (if you choose the latter, you should totally make that your profile picture!)
I'll have to be all like, you know that dj Nick, yeah.. we're friends.
So I'm considering giving up (aka not turning in my application for) grad school... and maybe trying to learn more about music/sound engineering and stuff... we'll see what happens... (maybe I should have worked for ITS Media rather than Brian Mast... oh well, stage managing was fun. )
Hello there fellow Citizen Critic... This whole 40 word maximum is mishmash hogwash... This is how it should have read:
"These four Ivy League grads use their infectious melodies, Afrobeat influences, witty and literate lyrics to take the Strokes and Shins out to the football fields of Soweto, school them both only to send them on their merry way wearing Paul Simon "Graceland" T-shirts. Global warming never sounded so good in the middle of winter, as this may be the perfect ready-for-summer album!"
I actually haven't heard her new album... I should get it though... I love her music though... used to listen to it all the time... but I'm trying to expand my library and branch out some now... it sucks not working at a radio station.
How's your roll and poke, dude? Oh shit, I'm at a coffee shop and some old guy just burped in my face and it smells awful. Oh well, if I was old I probably wouldn't give a shit where I burped either, or what it smelled like.
Sorry our x-mas contact was short, I was driving in heavy traffic.
Oh actually it's not the old guy, it's the buser's tray full of old food, blahh.
Anywho things are goin well, been doin a lot of outdoors stuff, and I'm officially applying to grad school this week.
Oh yeah, and I think I'm going to try and cater my dad's chili next fall (to bar's and coffee shops mostly), so by the end of this year I might have my own business. Sweet huh?
