As we all know, Manchester is the centre of the musical universe. Long may it continue, but right now there is no radio station out there that is championing new music on a daily basis.
The Rev had interviews, acoustic spots, sessions and Mani's Manic Monday all to promote emerging talent.
With Radio Republic, we intend to go one better with bands in session and broadcasting live or as-live by hooking up to Vibe studios in Cheetham Hill. These sessions could also be downloaded online.
We believe that Radio Republic would provide this service to the people of Manchester to ensure that Manchester stays at the forefront of music in the future.
So, if you're in a band add us, tell your friends to add us. Let's hear it for Manchester!
Former presenters of 96.2 The Revolution, Phil Beckett, Martin Coogan, Cottee, Mike Joyce, Mani, Mick Ferry, Rob Riley, Scott Carey, Kati, Alex Carter, Graeme Hawley and Jeff Hordley, Mark and Leon, Tom and Gnash are intending to launch their own radio station soon.
This page is intended as a source of information and a point of contact for all loyal listeners of 96.2 The Revolution as it was before Friday 22nd August. ..
The playlist will be a mix of 60's to noughties tunes as before, everything from Motown to Punk, northern soul to indie, the common denominator being - cool tunes! Radio Republic is all about the music, not advertising revenue, not the same songs from soulless mainstream artists on constant rotation, with inane celebrity DJ's who are all about their ego...no sir, Radio Republic is about the music.
Extensive background work is ongoing and moving a pace! While we continue with the hard graft needed to ensure we can launch and maintain the station some of our DJ’s are currently doing ‘Radio Republic’ shows kindly hosted by other radio stations. We will keep you up to date with a weekly bulletin of shows and related events - make sure to listen in, enjoy the club nights and check out the stations kind enough to host our DJ’s.
Now what you can do:
1. Very Important: Please add yourself as a friend. Please invite your friends to join. We need large numbers to join the 'Republic' if we are to raise the necessary money to get it off the ground.
2. Spread the word, spread the love. Viva La Republic! (if in doubt see item 1!)

Great to hear that things are moving apace with Radio Republic. Can't wait to find out what's happening. I was hoping to be invited to take part in the survey but nothing so far :-( But hey, if the gaping hole in the airwaves is about to be filled, who cares ;-)

Firstly, cheers to everyone who made it down to,"Alternative Therapy" last year at The Brickhouse. Had some beltin' nights down there so let's try and carry on in'09...O.K... We'll be opening on Friday the 16th of January for the official Buzzcocks aftershow. The boys will be playing material from their first two albums, "Another Music in a Different Kitchen" and "Love Bites" at Manchester Academy...Then it's straight over to The Brickhouse for more music, but in a different kitchen! Expect to hear plenty of Buzzcocks rarely heard in clubs as well as Pete's solo stuff. Oh yeah, with the band coming down I'd strongly recommend getting your arses down there early so as to avoid not getting in
The Canteen / Blowout are proud to announce their new night at ABODE in Chorlton.
The Canteen DJs Mark & Leon will be spinning the best tunes in Rock & Roll, Northern Soul, Funk, Folk, Indie, Ska, Country & Psych, plus some of the best live music around.
Alright Ex Rev' 'eads Future Republicans. Do you like The Stooges, The Gun Club, The J&MC, Love, 13th Floor Elevators, My Bloody Valentine? Yeah? Well so do I, and so do Scream's fans. I've been invited to do the Primal's aftershow at The Brickhouse. And guess what? So are you. Arses are required from 11pm so you've got plenty of time to get there after the gig. Dave 's gonna be rockin' from 11 and I'm shockin' from 12 'til 3. Check out the website for guest list, directions etc. Some Chrimbo surprises guaranteed...Oooh!!
