ALT.BLUES terrorists RADIOTONES is a three-piece band based in Scotland playing original material that owes as much to trash country, rockabilly and punk as it does pre-war Delta blues. The band has released three internationally acclaimed albums – Gravel Road (1998), Whiskey’d Up (2000) and Bound to Ride (2003) on Buzz Records.
RADIOTONES was formed by National steel guitar player Dave Arcari in 1997 as an acoustic trio. In late 2001 RADIOTONES decided to ‘go electric’ and added a drummer to bring a whole new perspective to the music that prompted an invitation to interpret and record a track for a Frankie Miller tribute. Originally a six-minute Miller ballad, RADIOTONES turned One More Heartbreak into a two-and-a-half minute ‘Delta noise meets punk’ track which is featured alongside tracks by Rod Stewart, Fish, Billy Connolly and other major names on the tribute to the great Glasgow songwriter released on Eagle Records.
Frontman Dave Arcari is a full-time songwriter and touring solo artist in his own right and although schedules are tight, Radiotones has reverted to it's original three-piece lineup to make it easier to slot in more shows.
RADIOTONES’ Troubled Mind was also chosen for the Big Issue’s Mindset compilation CD.
Contrary to popular belief, RADIOTONES' name is not a combination of Radiohead and The Bluetones — it comes from a National guitar model called the 'Radiotone'
To date, RADIOTONES has appeared live on digital, cable and mainstream terrestrial TV and played more than a dozen live sessions for BBC and independent radio including Dougie Vipond’s Blues & Soul show (BBC Radio Scotland), TGIF (BBC Radio Scotland), The Scottish Connection (BBC Radio Scotland) and Jazz Waves (Radio Tay).
RADIOTONES played to 15,000 people at Perth’s Heart of Scotland millenium hogmanay event. Other highlight gigs include two sell out shows at Martin Taylor’s Kirkmichael International Guitar Festival; Glasgow Barrowlands; Fibbers (York); The 12 Bar Club (London); The Lemon Tree (Aberdeen); Dundee Blues Bonanza; The Twa Tams (Perth); Walsall Town Hall (Walsall); Renfrew Ferry (Glasgow); Window on the World festival (North Shields). Other festival appearances have included the West End festival (Glasgow), Spin (Paisley), Summer in the City (Dundee), Edinburgh International Festival Fringe.
The band has been invited to showcase at Manchester’s international music industry convention In The City and Glasgow’s MusicWorks as well as being selected by PRS to headline it’s stage at goNorth (Aberdeen) and also appear at Edinburgh Festival’s Fringe Sunday.
RADIOTONES’ website is at www.radiotones.com and features online shop, repro-quality hi-res photos, gig guide, reviews, free mail list submission and more.
RADIOTONES is Dave Arcari (National guitars/vocals); Jim Harcus (harmonica) and Adrian Paterson (bass).

Times New Viking "Rambunctious to new standards of blessed impenetrability, Ohio trio Times New Viking’s simple-on-paper M.O. is to take the sweetest of super-sweet pop music, indiefied though it is, and strip it of its outer layers of glitz and gloss. The result is music that crackles and fuzzes, screams and roars; it’s an X-Factor audition in a spin-dryer, potential sing-alongs rendered riotously raw through purposeful deconstruction."
