| About Radius |
|
Okay we're not exactly a band...but the personal myspace site only works for an individual and we wanted to occupy this space as a partnership--which is kind of like being a band! We are a happy and madly-in-love couple from the great city of Kansas City. We got married in 1977 after two years of friendship. We both became followers of Jesus in our late teens and began active ministry on our university campus (Miami of Ohio). We have been involved in pastoring, teaching, starting and serving churches and ministering in many places around the country (and the world) since that time. We have five amazing kids (Luke, Lisa, Sam, Mike and Steve), a daughter-in-law (Beka), a son-in-law (James) and a daughter-in-law (Caitlin). We are spiritual leaders (a Mom and Pop) within Metro Christian Fellowship--our spiritual family (www.metro-kc.org --where you can hear our sermons online). We started Radius in 2005 to help facilitate our ministry beyond our local community. We love God, people and life. OUR INTERESTS: Reading, writing, the Scriptures, friends, teaching and preaching, traveling, walks and talks together, listening to people's stories, great dramas, good music, prayer, solitude and silence, our great church family and our small group, our boys' sporting and musical events, family gatherings, our kids' lives and friends, enjoying God's good creation (mountains, beaches and oceans, forests!)
Why the name Radius? (some people have been asking!): Radius' tag line is: "Centered in Christ...Reaching Beyond" Here's the background: the scriptural implication of the name comes out of a concept that Paul referred to in 2 Cor 10 in a testimonial context...that God will expand our "radius" (metron in Greek) or "the measure of the sphere" of our ministry with Him in the future as we are faithful to fulfill (or "fill full") our ministry in the present sphere that God has apportioned to us. We believe that God is challenging us in the present to reach beyond the circle influence of that we have been gladly cultivating for a number of years--that's all there is to it!
