Ghostown est un formidable shaker musical qui brasse, mélange et mixe avec virtuosité les ingrédients les plus variés pour rebalancer sa grisante mixture sur l’auditeur abasourdi mais ravi. Maître d’œuvre du festin : Rael, prodige d’origine écossaise, converti à l’éclectisme musical par une enfance rythmée par les musiques tzigane, klezmer et folk de l’Europe de l’est qu’écoutait sa mère. Autant inspiré par le rock le plus aventureux (Brian Eno, The Talking Heads, The B-52’s) que par l’art du beat cadencé qu’il pratique dès son plus jeune âge, le bonhomme s’installe en France en 2003 où, avec le renfort massif de deux compères frenchies postés à la guitare et aux platines, il fourbit une musique sur laquelle se télescopent scratches grinçants, nu-jazz, breakbeat, nappes planantes, textes joyeusement décalés et un flow qui n’est pas sans rappeler Buck 65. Promis à un futur rayonnant, Ghostown fait rimer groove trépidant avec la plus insolente intelligence.

At the core of Ghostown is Rael who has been producing, playing, writing and rapping his songs for more than 10 years.
His diverse influences which were inflicted on him throughout his childhood such as Brian Eno and Talking Heads, B 52’s, moving on to the eastern European gypsy folk of Taraf de haidouks, had a profound effect on the hip hop he was to create.
In 2003 he moved to Montpellier in France where he started to work with:
Kirsa, DJ, scratch artist or how he describes himself « deck manipulator »(don’t try this at home) has brought the scratch to Ghostown! (many people had questioned prior to Kirsa “why no DJ?), , Kirsa also has something original, he plays his decks like an instrument, creating melodies and rhythms. Kirsa has been playing for 10 years DJing in clubs by himself and with different collectives (DDC, Prime Time..), aswell as many guest spots.
Baptiste has also brought his own flavour to Ghostown, a sensitive musician he tends to find just whats needed to go with Raels compositions, with quiet varied results, from floating haunting melodies, to dub/reggae rhythms, to psychobillly rock riffs.
