PRESENTLY, RAE'S PERFORMING SELF CONTAINED WHICH WORKS VERY WELL FOR SMALLER, INTIMATE VENUES, ASWELL AS LARGER EVENTS IN MEETING ROOMS/HOTEL BARS/ - SUPPER CLUB LOUNGE AREAS/RESTAURANTS/PRIVATE HOUSE PARTIES/RIVER CRUISES ETC.
RAE USES EITHER THE CLIENTS OWN IN HOUSE PA SYSTEM, OR TAKES HER TRANSPORTABLE 300WATT YAMAHA PA WHICH CONSISTS OF 2 NEAT SPEAKERS, A MIC', AND A DVD PLAYER THROUGH WHICH SHE PLAYS THE CDS WITH THE PRE-PLANNED BESPOKE PLAYLIST OF BACKING TRACK (Rae changes the playlist subject to the venue and anticipated clientele/audience) . IT'S A QUICK, NEAT SET UP WHICH TAKES VERY LITTLE SPACE. RAES' GENERAL DRESS CODE IS SMART/SOPHISTICATED, DEPENDANT UPON VENUE /EVENT IN QUESTION
THE PA VOLUME OF 300WATT IS PERFECT FOR AVERAGE SIZED RESTAURANTS AND CONFERENCE ROOMS AND HOTEL LOBBYS - RAES' AUDIENCES WHEN USING HER OWN PA, AT RESTAURANTS, PRIVATE PARTIES ETC., ARE USUALLY AROUND 100-150 PEOPLE
HOWEVER FOR CASINO GIGS AND SUCH LIKE, THE AUDIENCE IS, OF COURSE, A LOT LARGER BUT, WHERE NECESSARY, RAE'S EVEN USED HER OWN PA WHERE VENUES MAY HAVE HAD A LITTLE, LATE, LAST MINUTE PROBLEM WITH THEIR OWN IN HOUSE SYSTEM. RAES' 300WATT PA WORKED FINE IN THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES FOR AUDIENCES OF 200 AND ABOVE!.. (DEPENDS ON THE VERBOSITY OF THE AUDIENCE AND ACOUSTICS OF THE VENUE!)..

EXAMPLES OF RAES' PLAYLIST AND REPERTOIRE
...
Raes' repertoire includes many Great American Songbook classic standards, the popularity of which are reaching a younger audience now, due to a renaissance amongst current artistes. Examples of which can be heard on
the six tracks already uploaded to this site. However, Raes' repertoires ISN'T JUST JAZZ!! ... She sings in most genres, but prefers Jazz, Soul, Blues, and Country Rock (not so keen on 'cheesy' pop) prefers to sing 'Easy Listening' type standards heard regularly on radio stations inthe Uk such as Smooth FM and Magic FM and Heart FM
Raes' playlist examples are below but please note that this repertoire is constantly being added to and updated (subject to backing track sourcing and / or being accompanied by musicians). Basically, classic, well known ballads/standards from the Divas and Crooners of the past 5 Decades, type of songs which are regularly played in the Uk on radio stations 'Smooth Fm' and 'Magic FM'. Rae also writes her own lyrics and vocals

Some Abba songs (but Rae only sings these by specific request, as Abba songs aren't really right for a soloist and are not Raes' favourite genre to sing in, but if needs must and the client/party requests, Rae can sing some Abba - has around 7 Abba songs in repertoire but RARELY sings this, except for specific private parties, by prior request, as this is NOT Raes' usual genre or taste to sing), .....

BESPOKE PLAYLIST : ...
Rae is always open to suggestions of playlist for your venue, (bespoke service can be arranged SUBJECT to suitable backing track sourcing and rehearsal time given enough notice prior to singing at your event)
THE LISTED REPERTOIRE ABOVE IS CONSTANTLY BEING UPDATED SUBJECT TO SOURCING NICE NEW APPROPRIATE BACKING TRACKS TO SUIT RAES' VOCAL RANGE AND STYLE ..... (RAE'S ALSO HAPPY TO GO MORE UPBEAT BY REQUEST SUBJECT TO SUITABLE BACKING) - some of the more upbeat backing for 'pop' songs are pretty rough, hence although Rae can sing any kind of song with a band, when using backing tracks for solo gigs , she mainly sticks to Jazz, Blues, Soul and Country Bluesy Rock, where the backing tracks she sources and uses are much easier on the ear and better for her to improvise her vocal with ...
Note ... Repertoire is sometimes currently limited as a self-contained vocalist subject to sourcing nice quality backing tracks which tend to be much more indicative of a live band in the jazz, blues and soul library ... hence Rae is currently mainly singing that genre, but has sung Country/Rock and basically all sorts in the past ... loves the whole Latin vibe (Spanish guitar) and also Funk, AND REALLY ENJOYS SINGING WITH GUITAR/PIANO AND LIVE JAZZ BANDS, SO GET IN TOUCH IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A VOCALIST TO ACCOMPANY YOUR MUSICIAN SKILLS

RAES' INSPIRATIONAL HEROES + HEROINES OF MUSIC ...
SLIDESHOW BELOW OF SOME OF RAES' MUSICAL HEROES & HEROINES
MUSICAL MEMORIES, THEIR INFLUENCE LEADING TO RAE'S HEROS AND HEROINES OF MUSIC
Rae was influenced as a child from listening to the
songs of the 50s/60s her parents and grand parents played on their gramophones ... and from the 70s/80s/90s mainly soul/jazz/blues singers ... All the warm, smooth, melting vocals when singers sang their songs close to the mic' emoting every word they sang, so when listening to their vocal you feel they're singing directly to YOU ... Those featured in the slide show above & list below exemplify Raes' musical heroes, heroines and influences, old and new ...
... Ella Fitzgerald (perfectly pitched, pure rangy vocal), Dusty Sprinfield (gorgeous, breathy, heartfelt, sexy vocal), Peggy Lee, (Fever is OFTEN Raes' first warm up song at gigs), Julie London (slow, relaxed, cool, smooth delivery - Rae has, to date EIGHT backing versions of CRY ME A RIVER) , Doris Day
HERE'S RAE'S WISTFUL, DREAMY VERSION OF 'THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU' ONE OF THE SONGS DORIS DAY, AMONGST MANY, JAZZ SINGERS COVERED
More Influences ...
Nina Simone, Etta James, Dinah Washington, Carole Sloane, Sarah Vaughn, Natalie Cole, Janis Ian, Gladys Knight, Eva Cassidy, Bette Middler, Elkie Brooks, Syreeta, Randy Crawford (LOVE Tender Falls the Rain).., Dionne Warwick (in her Burt Batharach era.. love 'Valley of the Dolls' amongst many others) , Lisa Stansfield, Natalie Cole, Karen Carpenter, Roberta Flack, Carole King
(Rae normally sings a few of CK's numbers live),
Kiki Dee, Norah Jones, Bobby Gentry, Joni Mitchell (love her style when she does jazz/blues, such a relaxed, husky, soulful, heartfelt vocal), Madeline Bell (amazing!) (Diana R-Mahogany/Lady Sings the Blues/Marvin duet period...)
THIS IS RAE'S COVER VERSION OF 'G'MORNING HEARTACHE' FROM THE 1972 MOVIE 'LADY SINGS THE BLUES' SHOWING PICS OF STARS DIANA ROSS & BILLY DEE WILLIAMS. ALSO PICS OF MORNING HEARTACHE & A PIC MONTAGE OF BILLIE'S STORY OF TIME RUNNING OUT DUE TO HEROIN ADDICTION
----- & NOW! -----, of course. not forgetting the other gender!
Marvin Gaye(Whats Going On/I Want You/Let's get it on albums & Got to Give it up), Nat King Cole, Matt Monroe, Stevie Wonder (Innervisions). Quincy Jones (Jook Joint), George Benson - Living Inside your Love album (Unchained Melody & Hey Girl)
Plus Rae loves so much of George B eg.. his last 5 tracks on LovexLove album & his versions of Summertime, Summer of '42, Nature Boy, Masquerade, Moodys Mood, Love all the Hurt Away and Late at Night. On to another George - George Michael (his dance stuff like Outside and Fast Love, but also his ballads - a pure, clear, technically perfect voice), Seal (amazing vocalist, Rae loves all his stuff, but particularly his cover of 'This is a Mans World').
Luther Vandross(Superman & all his Bacharach covers (Anyone who had a Heart, A House is not a Home etc) rather than his more commercial dance stuff.. what a voice!), Enrique Iglesias (Hero), Santana (Smooth/Maria Maria), Chet Baker, Maxwell, Joe, Michael Jackson, Al Green, Keith Washington, Peter Cox (soulful vocal),Paul Weller (You do Something to Me) Bill Withers,Chris Botti, Michael Buble, Darren Hayes for his vocal on 'Insatiable' (fabulously passionate song), Bryan Adams, Bill Withers
FUSIONS, MUSIC FROM ACROSS THE SHORES
The fusion of music in the movie ' West Side Story ' also had a huge influence on Rae. Later, when life took her all over mainland Spain, the Baleares and the Canaries she fell in love with Latin music. The song 'Smooth' and 'Maria Maria' by Santana, are a couple of her all time 'put on your dancing shoes' Latin faves!
Rae's love of Latin music, includes particularly, Spanish Classical Guitar heard on balmy evenings when strolling barefoot along the beach. Memories of "footprints in the sand". Nothing like the sound of the sea with the waves gently lapping against the shore with some lovely music echoing in the background and the sea glistening by the light of the silvery moon!.... ('let's take a walk together, near the open shore, hand in hand you and I, let's 'Cherish' every moment, we have been given, as time passes by...') - Rae loves the classical acoustic Spanish guitar version of classical song 'Ballad de Adelaide', latin sound. In a similar vein, Rae also adores, 'Cavatina' (theme from the Deer Hunter) which also has that acoustic, gentle guitar sound and Rae heard that tune played often by Latin guitarists whilst sitting late night/early hours of morning at a restaurant by the sea - evokes powerful and beautiful 'recuerdos' of a feeling of peace and calm with the world - a memory ('recuerdo') Rae will never forget was the magical sound of guitar, whilst strolling up the steps to Palma cathedral and the Medina in Palma, Mallorca, on a glorious afternoon, taking in the juxposition of the view sea coupled with historic architecture, a Spanish classical guitarist was sitting on the steps, playing Raes favourite pieces, whilst a beautiful black horse and red cart stood behind him - literally a picture postcard scene and an eternal musical memory
Rae also heard a track during the fantastic movie UNFATHFUL with Richard Gere, Diane Lane and Olivier Martinez (thoroughly recommended by Rae for its amazing acting and atmosphere) ... the music during one scene played on Rae's mind and she HAD to find it ... She thought the song was New Orleans Blues but it's African Blues.
HERE'S ALI FARKA TOURE PERFORMING 'AI DUE' LIVE(FROM THE FILM 'UNFAITHFUL' ...
POWER SINGERS - THE DIVAS THAT CAN DO IT WITHOUT OVERCOOKING!
Rae definately HASN'T been influenced by overcooked, over complicated vocals where the effort to be a power singer and prove technical ability overshadows the true meaning and words of the song being sung. ( Rae can't STAND that 'playing with the note' thing and sreechy high thing that a lot of the modern singers do, yes, it shows their range off, but it often (in Raes' opinion anyway), murders the song!
However, power singers Rae admires = Shirley Bassey (just a true DIVA and she takes a song and TRULY makes it her OWN, Rae loves her Bond themes and also 'If you Go Away' (though Rae loves Dustys' version too) and Something in the Way He Moves , Donna Summer (effortless power and range and depth), Chaka Khan (eg: her version of Funny Valentine- on Waiting to Exhale + Ain't Nobody - terrific dance track)...Rae enjoys singing Burt Bacharach covers (Valley of the Dolls, Walk on By, House is not a Home, Anyone who Had a Heart etc) and is constantly updating her repertoire to add songs she feels would be enjoyed by her audience and which suit her range/tone/phrasing and overall image, some of these being songs originally covered by male vocalists .....
FUNK, DISCO - LET'S DANCE
Along with Jazz/Blues/Soul & Latin Rae loves FUNK - DISCO - too (anythin' from the late 70s/80s that they play on HEART FM on Friday & Saturday nights - that got people up on to the mirrored disco floor dancing around the handbags.. Rae loves : -
Johnson Brothers - Whispers - Commodores (especially 'Nightshift') - Sugar Hill Gang (the best and ORIGINAL rap song !) - Disco Inferno - Temptations (Papa was a Rollin' Stone)- Prince - (The Vault album) - Earth Wind and Fire (Fantasy/After the Love has Gone/Boogie Wonderland/September etc!) - Chic (not so much 'le Freak 'as their LESS commercial tracks on THAT album - Warm Summer Night and Chic Cheer etc) - Rose Royce (fantastic memories!) - Eddie Kendricks (Keep on Truckin' Baby) - William de Vaughn (Diamond in the back, sunroof top diggin' the scene...) - Timmy Thomas (Everybody wants to live Together) - Outkast (I like the Way you Move) - Imagination (Body Talk - camp but sexy track!(same vibe as 'Let's get it on'...) - Heatwave (Boogie Nights etc) - Rosie Gaines Let's Get Close, Closer than Close),
The Jacksons (Can you Feel it) - & Michael Jackson (Off the Wall was a great dance album & so many of his eg :- ...' You Rock my World ', (Rae simply CANNOT sit still to this track) .., plus the Way you Make me Feel, Billie Jean, Blood on the Dance Floor, etc., Jackson seems to be as influenced by West Side Story as Rae, you can see it in all his dance moves and videos, his dance music is simply 'unsitdownable'... ) More.. 'get off your seat and shake your booty' stuff! : - . .. Shake your Groove thing Shake your Groove thing Yeah Yeah... We're Gonna STOMP all night, in the neighbourhood, gonna FEEL alright... Lemars' 'Dance with You' (love it! hear it here on My Space - www.myspace.com/lemar).. ! - (Rae truly CAN'T! sit still to this kind of music, for example, whilst working in Mallorca with her right leg in plaster (torn ligaments from falling sideways in a pair of wedge sandals - not too much Sangria! honestly!) she used to still dance at the discos spinning around on the plastered leg in true handbag 'I will Survive' style! ;) )... (and received lot of signatures on the plaster from DJS and fellow 'clubbers' !..)

RAES' SOUND ...
(the myspace ubiquitous 'sounds like'?
...
Hmmm ... Sounds like - Rae!!! ... those who've heard the demo cd vocal and listened to Rae sing live have different ideas regarding who her performance compares to, so ... rather than make comparisons to other vocalists, probably it is easier to suggest who Rae is influenced by rather than who she sounds like but if you like these singers mentioned now, you'll probably like Raes' sound too..... (think along the lines of the slow, long note phrasing of Roberta Flack & Eva Cassidy with a little bit of Peggy Lee/Doris Day/Julie London/Elkie Brooks/Carole King/Linda Rondstadt(on your Sentimental album) ... ) ...
Rae would also love to chill the vocal down when not working with backing tracks (which rely on strong vocal and restrictive phrasing ... ) so she'd enjoy trying out jazz/blues/latin in a less formed style where the vocal just flows with the music in a freefall kind of way... any musicians looking to collaborate - Rae would be keen to hear from you... send a message by myspace mail or myspace comment

" During one of my searches for really good sounding music....pouring through the myrid of pages and webs....listening...hearing.... I happened accross Rae Marnie. The track that was playing was "Very Thought Of You" and it slowed me down. As usual it is the first twenty seconds of a track that either catches or doesn't. If it doesn't, I move on. "Very Thought Of You" by Rae Marnie stopped me dead in my tracks. At this point I had no choice but to listen to the rest of her tracks, just to make sure what I heard was real. Immediately swept away by the sound.....the touch of it. Immediately I contacted Rae and asked if she would please send me her tracks so they could be shared with our listeners.
Most definately a "world class" jazz-blues singer, Rae Marnie will take you away from what you are focused upon. Grab you. Soften your tenseness and kick you right back. It is no wonder that Rae travels to exotic places singing her song.
Give Rae Marnie a listen. You are promised to be touched and lifted away from whatever it is that has distracted... "

* WINDING DOWN WITH RAE AFTER YOUR GIG / NIGHT OUT * ...
All performers can empathise with that adrenaline rush you get before, during and after a gig, and how you come in after the performance , tired , ravenous , but wide awake and unable to sleep ..... So, for those of you who've just come in at 'around midnight', - (from a gig or from whatever else you've been out and about doing ..... ) - here's a little something to help wind you down (whilst you sip your brandy (or cocoa!), eat your cheese on toast, get out of your stage clothes and makeup and start to feel like a 'normal?' human being again .....
Raes' roots on her fathers' side are Irish (Cork). On her mothers side the roots are harder to trace due to her gran being adopted. Raes' Irish ancestors came to London from Cork due to the potato famine, and rooted in East London, as many from that period did. Rae was raised in an area East of London but scooted off to Spain and its' islands for a number of years to begin her Latin adventures from the age of eighteen.
Raes' vocal talent was discovered by default. Whilst working overseas her career at that time brought her into contact with professional entertainers. A highly experienced professional (who'd worked in West End theatre) heard her singing casually 'Capella' style when she was asked to help a Swedish singer phrase the song in English. Although Rae didn't have any formal training, she was immediately taken on as solo vocalist to perform for large audiences in an upscale nightclub, accompanied by a drummer and guitarist. Once Rae recovered from the initial stage fright - her journey as a vocalist continued...
Rae's performed in The Canaries and Spain at 4/5 star hotels and nightclubs on stage. Rae has also performed in London and South East Uk at hotels/nightclubs/ restaurants/wine bars/private members clubs/corporate events/weddings/parties etc. solo aswell as part of a duet.(with a Swedish guitarist-vocalist, a Chilean guitarist-vocalist (a former TV performer in his native country) plus a London based TV actor/musician/vocalist.

" Thanks SO much for coming Saturday. Brilliant set Rae! You've got a whole Northamptonshire fan club now and we're having a meeting to discuss more tomorrow!! "
- from organiser of charity garden party gig in church grounds to raise money for the village 14th century church of architectural interest. .....
(Raes' reply to this quote was ..." about time I had some groupies ;-) ... !! " ) ..... writtten quote from organiser - June 2008 .....
The above quote was from the one of the organisers of charity gig, where Rae sang 40 songs, for mixed age group - from kids of around 4 years to 11 and Mums and Dads in their mid 30s and Grandparents from mid 50s upwards. Main fan club that day seemed to be the delightful and well behaved children! Absolute delight to sing for and sat around Raes' marquee tent area playing air guitar to the rockier numbers, clicking their fingers to songs like 'Fever', and swaying arms in the air (lighter style!), to the smoother tunes. Rae played this gig for charity, but the feedback from the children and the crowd in general, and the fact it was for a good cause, made it one of the most pleasurable and relaxed

" Hope you're well? Had great feedback from private party organiser for your garden party Sunday 20th, he loved your performance and I think there'll be more bookings as a result "
..... email quote from booking agent - July 2008 ..... and here's the testimonial he received by email from the host of the party .....
.....
"Just a brief few words to say how brilliant Rae was for our party. All of our guests were delighted with this "surprise" that I had arranged and Rae more than met our expectations. We have some very discerning music lovers amongst the family and they couldn't speak highly enough of Rae's performance. She presented a thoroughly professional but suitably relaxed style fitting comfortably in with as well as further adding to the ambience we wanted. Rae has a voice that one could never tire of and she adapted delightfully to the extended repertoire we had asked for, adding fun to the whole event and coping with the PA system which faltered on a couple of occasions without the gig being adversely affected. A big thank you to you and especially Rae who also was kind enough to send us a card and some CD recordings to remember her and the occasion by."

The above a few EXAMPLES of some of the written quotes by text/email that Raes' received from venue bookers etc. since the My Space website has been opened. Rae's also received very positive verbal feedback from her audiences at the venues and also at private parties leading to recommendations for future bookings Rae appreciates that performance is of paramount importance but so is time keeping, total professionalism, a warm and friendly approach, attitude and immaculate personal presentation and a willingness to adapt to the audience and ambience of each venue

* RAES' CURRENT PERFORMANCE INFO * ...
Rae is currently performing SOLO SELF CONTAINED, using 300watt YAMAHA award winning PA system and excellent jazz/soul/blues backing tracks. Repertoire is around 3 hours (usual gig time for bookings is 90 mins ie. 3 x 30 mins or 2 x 45 mins). Examples of songs within repertoire are listed on this page, but the playlist is constantly being updated, so please contact Rae regarding any specific song requests/genres. Raes' music is ideal for the 'cocktail and canapes' and 'liquers and lullabys' classy vibe.
Therefore, as Rae has lived and worked in Spain/Canaries and duetted with a Latin performer, given the words she can sing Spanish with decent pronounciation with no problem....(eg. last verse of Autumn Leaves on demo attached) ... The video has been edited in meloncholy autumn colours and was filmed in Autumn 07 and edited and uploaded in Autumn 08) ...
note - the volume was recorded way too low when filmed LIVE by a professional video maker, so please put the volume on the video slide on the player to MAX when playing the vid'
Raes' audiences always comment on the 100% emotion she gives to her performance to enable the meaning of the words of each song to reach the listeners. Her voice has been described by experienced professionals as "warm", "smooth", "rich tone", "tender", "sultry", "seductive", and also "clear and strong". Any agents, musicians and producers requiring this type of vocal for their projects, Rae would be keen to hear from you. Rae also 'raunches' up the vocal for more upbeat numbers if required (versatile repertoire). Rae is currently living in London but would also be happy to perform overseas on short term contracts subject to venue and location.(EUROPE, some parts of the FAR EAST , DUBAI and STATES would all be considered)

* A BIT ABOUT THE FIRST SPRING 07 DEMO CD - 'CHANGING MOODS OF LOVE' - AND THE PRODUCER *...
The 2nd mix of the demo cd was uploaded on to this site in Spring 07 for promo release to Agents/Record Company Producers/Event Organisers/Conference & Banqueting organisers/Cruise Ship Entertainment Directors. The producer of the demo
'Changing Moods of Love'
who kindly mixed Raes' vocal with the backing tracks is - CHRIS MADIN - a composer/producer and cellist for tv/film & theatre soundtracks - Chris has over 20 years experience and composed around 150 scores. Chris often works with the famous Theatre Royal York, and has composed the music for the GUARDIAN RATED 5* show 'THE RAILWAY CHILDREN' which opens July-September '09 at the famous RAILWAY MUSEUM IN YORK. Chris is also composing the score for '12th NIGHT' which is being performed at the Theatre Royal York in '09.
Rae laid down her vocals to backing tracks in Chris' studio loft in Summer '06 during a RARE! 40 deg. heatwave!! Rae met Chris via a close friend of hers who is a TV and theatre actress, so the experience was friendly, warm and fun. Due to limited studio time 12 songs were laid down in just a few hours,. 6 were chosen to tell a story of love, ... yearning and searching, finding & accepting, realising & rejecting the reality & finally... reflecting & missing .....
The Six Tracks from ' The Changing Moods of Love ' are ...
*** THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU, *** LOOK OF LOVE, *** WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT, *** MY MAN (mon homme), *** CRY ME A RIVER, *** AUTUMN LEAVES (with Spanish 2nd verse),
(bonus track 'You've Changed' available on Request ...)-all 6 tracks were uploaded to this website when it opened in Spring '07, (however, playlist may be altered from time to time on the site) and are featured as bonus tracks as a Medley at the end of the new cd (Jan '09), 'Marnies Midnight Moody Blues'/
The outcome of limited studio time resulted in a very honest and 'organic' demo, ie. no clever tricks, no re-recording of verses & the track being laid down on 1st or 2nd take, so its very indicative of a 'live' performance. Rae had only heard the new backing tracks the day before, so there was extremely limited time to get comfortable with the backing tracks
RE: ...
* HEARING DEMO AT IT'S BEST ADVANTAGE AND DOWNLOADING * ...
If you ONLY listen via computer, sound will be improved & 'live' via 'earphone' attachment, 10tracks uploaded (use slider on left hand side of the myspace player on top right hand side of this page). Sound through average computer speaker system will not give best 'live' effect, it is always recommended you download tracks, burn to disc & play through a car or home stereo system to enjoy the music in a moment of pleasure such as drinking a glass of wine & relaxing, music is becoming too 'throwaway' in this ipod/computer world we live in & not appreciated at it's best via either of those mediums.
By request, from musicians (and special fans who support Rae by 'adding' her tracks to their page, (you can do this by clicking on the + sign on Rae's music player) ) and professionals looking for entertainment for your venue, Rae's happy to email mp3s by attachment or post a demo cd to you.

* A BIT ABOUT THE NEXT DEMO CD - ' MARNIES MIDNIGHT MOODY BLUES' - AND THE PRODUCER - NEW TRACKS DUE UP ON THE SITE JANUARY 2009 * ...
Raes' EXTREMELY excited and honored to have met and worked with the renowned Jazz, Soul and Blues musician and producer Wayne Brown. Having sold over 3 million records with Pepsi & Shirley in the 80’s, Wayne Brown has subsequently worked with such celebrated artists as George Michael, Steve Winwood, Earth, Wind and Fire, Burt Bacharach, Alishas Attic, Lulu, Billy Ocean & Ruby Turner. Wayne’s appointment as producer of the Wilberforce 2007 Album was announced in 2007 due for release October 2008 . Rae was recommended to Waynes' site on myspace by another artist and has subsquently had the privelage of watching his band live in London on a number of occasions and has both his current cds 'Virtual Jazz Band' and 'Wilberforce Project' 2008 album which she draws huge influence an inspiration from. Coincidentally, when Rae found out about Waynes' involvement with Wilberforce, it struck a chord, as Rae, herself, has worked exactly on the site where William Wilberforce resided (Holwood, Keston, Kent), and has sat on the bench where 'supposedly' the abolition of slavery document was signed
Rae met up with Wayne to jam in Winter 2007, to draft a track together. Since then, Raes' joined forces with Wayne to ask him to produce and mix her Autumn 2008 cd - ' Marnies Midnight Moody Blues ' , which will be a mix of Jazz, Soul, Blues and Country Blues/Rock covers - Waynes' relaxed style of recording and understanding of Raes' need to FEEEEL the 'vibe' helped Rae on the day of recording during Autumn 2008. The 13 cover tracks recorded that day are : - .....
13 tracks (including 2 medleys tracks 9 and 12) - 55 minutes play
*** FUNNY VALENTINE,
*** SUMMERTIME,
*** NEARNESS OF YOU,
*** TURN ME ON,
*** G'MORNING HEARTACHE,
*** 'ROUND MIDNIGHT,
*** MAN I LOVE, (someday he'll come along),
*** BLACK VELVET,
..... Then For Track 9 an edited 5 track Soul Montage/Medley :-
*** GET HERE,
*** RATHER GO BLIND,
*** TOO LATE,
*** NATURAL WOMAN,
*** FIRST CUT IS THE DEEPEST,
*** AND AS A BONUS !! ***
***
THE 6 TRACKS FROM 'CHANGING MOODS OF LOVE'
..... (Producer-Chris Madin) :-
*** VERY THOUGHT OF YOU,
*** LOOK OF LOVE,
..... Then for Track 12 an edited 3 track Medley :- .....
*** WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT/MY MAN/CRY ME A RIVER',
*** AUTUMN LEAVES
ALL TRACKS UPLOADED JANUARY '09 TO THE MUSIC PLAYER WITHIN BIO ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THIS PAGE NEXT TO THE PIC' SLIDESHOW
The tracks above were recorded in JUST 2.5 hours to backing tracks with the 1st or 2nd take being laid to disc, so the result will be, like 'The Changing Moods of Love' indicative of a 'LIVE' performance and 'ORGANIC' - as Wayne said to Rae 'Let's keep on a roll'!!
Wayne will be mixing the backing tracks and vocals, editing and producing the cd and, 'fingers crossed' , most tracks will be uploaded on this site in Autumn 08.
Rae thoroughly enjoyed her experience of working with Wayne who works organically and 'goes with the flow' - and they share a mutual taste in music and respect for other musicians
Once Wayne and Rae have finished their OWN track, this will also be included on the myspace website along with the other new tracks being processed during Autumn 2008 - Rae and Waynes' own track they've written together will have a very smooth, sexy, laid back vibe
You can hear examples of Waynes' music on his websites here on myspace - click on 'Virtual Jazz Band' and also 'Abolition of the Slave Trade, Wilberforce 2007' on Raes' profile page in her 'Top Friends' (bottom right side of page under BIO)
