.. .. ..Rafal Sarnecki is a jazz guitarist, composer, arranger born in 1982 in Warsaw, Poland. In 2005 he moved to New York where he received a scholarship at the prestigious Jazz & Contemporary Music Program at the New School University. He graduated with distinction from The New School in 2008 and in 2010 he graduated from the graduate jazz program at the Aaron Copland School of Music also in NY. Currently he is living in Brooklyn composing and performing music with a variety of groups including: Lucas Pino Nonet, Majid Khaliq Quintet, Danielle Freeman OperaJazz Quartet, Woogie Lee Quartet and his own group Rafal Sarnecki Sextet. .. .. Rafał performed in 8 European countries and toured the East and the West coast of the US. He played on many prestigous jazz festivals such as:.. .. •„International Jazz Festival dedicated to Miles Davis” in Rijeka, Croatia, .. •"Muhu Future Music Festival" in Estonia, .. •International Music Festival "Rigas Ritmi" in Riga, Latvia,.. •„Summer Jazz Festival in Cracow” and many other festivals,.. .. .. Rafal is a winner of many prizes at jazz competitions including:.. .. •The 1st prize at the „International Jazz Guitar Competition – Guitar City 2002” in Warsaw, .. •The prize for the best instrumentalist at the „Jazz Standard Festival in Siedlce 2004” .. .. In January 2008 Rafal recorded his first CD "Songs From a New Place" with Paweł Kaczmarczyk on piano, Wojciech Pulcyn on bass and Łukasz Żyta on drums. The CD contains Rafal's compositions and was released in October 2008. In February 2009 the it was nominated to the FRYDERYK 2009 award in the JAZZ DEBUT OF THE YEAR category. (FRYDERYK is the Polish version of the GRAMMY award).. .. Besides playing with his own quartet Rafał performed with some other well known Polish groups such as: Janusz Muniak Quartet, Pawel Kaczmarczyk Audiofeeling Band, Maciej Strzelczyk Trio, Oktawia Kawęcka Group, Kuba Cichocki Quartet, Marita Alban Juarez Quartet, Piotr Rodowicz Trio, Ryszard Borowski Quartet, Maria Sadowska. .. .. Rafał performed in 8 European countries and toured the East and the West coast of the US. He played on many prestigous jazz festivals such as:
