Mi nombre es Rafa Skam, vivo
en Murcia (España), y estoy envuelto en varios proyectos musicales
(5 grupos, 2 djs, un fanzine y sello discográfico). Como me sería
imposible gestionar 9 myspaces, utilizaré éste para hablar
de todos mis proyectos:

-THE YELLOW MELODIES nace
en Murcia (España) en 1996. En la actualidad el grupo lo forman
Rafa Skam (Voz y Guitarra), Pilar (Bajo), Jaime (Teclados)
y Jesús (Batería).
-Hasta el momento han editado
4 álbumes ('Repertorio B' -Pussycats, 1998-; 'High'
-Jabalina, 2000-; 'Surprise' -Jabalina, 2002-; y 'The championship
cup' -Clifford, 2008-), numerosas maquetas, y sus canciones han sido
incluídas en diversos recopilatorios de distintos sellos de todo
el planeta.
-Han tocado en directo en
más de 100 ocasiones, acompañando incluso a grupos de la
talla de EMMA POLLOCK (ex-THE DELGADOS), o THE PRIMARY 5 (ex-TEENAGE FANCLUB),
sin olvidar su participación en importantes festivales como Contempopranea,
Lemon Pop, etc...
-Han vendido discos hasta
en Japón, y han tocado en diversos programas de televisión,
como Los Conciertos de Radio 3 / La 2 de TVE.
-Acaban de publicar un nuevo
mini-lp en vinilo 10" ('The Championship Cup') en el sello Clifford Records,
y ya se encuentran preparando el siguiente álbum! También
han grabado 3 vídeoclips: "Believe" y "The championship cup", dirigidos
por Martin Ellerbeck, y "Mr. Sand and Mrs. Sea", dirigido por Faustino
Fdez.
-Su música es esencialmente
pop, con algunas pinceladas de psicodelia, y marcadas influencias británicas,
tanto de los 60 como actuales.
-THE YELLOW MELODIES started
in Murcia (Spain) in 1996. The current line-up is: Rafa Skam (Voice and
Guitar), Pilar (Bass), Jaime (Keyboards) and Jesús (Drums).
-They have released 4
albums ('Repertorio B' -Pussycats, 1998-; 'High' -Jabalina, 2000-; 'Surprise'
-Jabalina, 2002-; and 'The championship cup' -Clifford, 2008-), and a huge
amount of demos. Many of their songs have been included in compilations
in different labels all over the world.
-They have played live
over 100 times, supporting bands such as EMMA POLLOCK (ex-THE DELGADOS),
or THE PRIMARY 5 (ex-TEENAGE FANCLUB). They have also taken part in some
of the most important Spanish festivals like Contempopranea, Lemon Pop,...
-Some of their albums
have sold well even in Japan. They have also made shows for different TV
channels.
-They have just released
a 10" vinyl mini-lp called 'The championship cup' on Clifford Records,
and they are recording a new album at the moment. They have also made 3
videoclips: "Believe" and "The championship cup", directed by Martin Ellerbeck;
and "Mr. Sand and Mrs. Sea", by Faustino Fdez.
-Their music is guitar
pop (sometimes psychedelic), sung in English with British influences from
the 60s and 90s.

-Grupo formado por Ruth (Voz),

-Llevan funcionando desde 1998,
y hasta 2006, aunque hoy en día con tan sólo algún
concierto muy ocasional y especial.
-Tienen 2 álbumes editados:
“Sonreír” (Elefant, 2002), y “Emmaboda” (Discos Imprescindibles
/ Autopop, 2005), así como varios singles, tanto en vinilo como
en cd.
-Punk-pop de guitarras en español
con voces femeninas e influencias de los 60 y del indie-pop de los 90.
-Actualmente sus componentes han
formado otros grupos, así:

-VACACIONES are Ruth (Voice),
José Alberto (Drums), Carlos 77 (Bass), Maria del Mar (Keyboards),
Ángel (Guitar) and Rafa (Guitar).
-Active from 1998 to 2006 (now
only on very occasional and special gigs).
-They have released 2 albums:
'Sonreír' (Elefant, 2002), and 'Emmaboda' (Discos Imprescindibles
/ Autopop, 2005), as well as some 7” and cd-singles.
-Guitar punk-pop sung in spanish
with female voices and influenced by the 60s and the 90s indiepop bands.
-Nowadays, their members have
started other bands [see some lines above]:

nacen en el local de ensayo.

Alberto (Drums), Pilar (Bass) and Rafa (Voice and Guitar).
-Active from 2006.
-José Alberto also plays
drums in VACACIONES; and Pilar also plays the bass in YELLOW MELODIES.
-Experimental pop whose songs
are born exclusively in the rehearsal room.

-Dúo formado por
Ruth

-Llevan funcionando desde 2006,
aunque como apenas se reúnen, sólo tienen una canción,
que ha salido editada en el recopilatorio ‘Let it bee’ del sello italiano
My Honey Records, y en 'Saturno', cd que acompaña al número
9 del fanzine El Planeta Amarillo.
-Indiepop de guitarras y bases programadas,
con voces en castellano, en la onda de VACACIONES.
-MINIBAR are Ruth Vacaciones (Voice)
and Rafa (everything else!).
-Active from 2006, but as they
hardly meet each other, they have only written and recorded one song, featured
in 2 compilations: ‘Let it bee’ on the Italian label My Honey Records,
and 'Saturno', cd that comes with ‘El Planeta Amarillo 9’ fanzine.
-Guitar indiepop with synth rhythms
and female vocals in spanish, very close to VACACIONES.

-Es el proyecto en solitario de
Rafa Skam... o mejor dicho, es el seudónimo bajo el que se
esconden las canciones que no encajan en ningún otro de sus proyectos:
THE YELLOW MELODIES, VACACIONES, LITTLE RUSSIA o MINIBAR...
-Lleva funcionando desde 2008...
y de ahí un momento sólo hay una canción grabada que
saldrá editada en el CD ‘Neptuno’, que acompaña al fanzine
El Planeta Amarillo 10...
-No hay un estilo predefinido, aunque
de momento suena a una mezcla de dreampop, space-rock, electrónica retrofuturista,
ambient, ruido y psicodelia...
-It is the solo project by Rafa
Skam... well, it’s just the name that Rafa uses for the songs that don’t
match with his other projects/bands: THE YELLOW MELODIES, VACACIONES, LITTLE
RUSSIA o MINIBAR...
-It was born in 2008, and now
there’s only one song recorded, that will be included in the ‘Neptuno’
CD compilation that comes with El Planeta Amarillo 10 ‘zine.
-There’s no a predefined style...
by the moment you will hear a mix of dreampop, space-rock, electronics,
ambient, noise and psychedelia...
RAFASKAM DJ:
-En su tiempo libre, a Rafa
le encanta pinchar sus canciones favoritas de toda la vida: pop, indie,
rock, brit, tecno, punk, beat,... un repaso a los hits de las últimas
décadas y a canciones bonitas tanto de España como de fuera
(mira la lista de grupos a la izquierda, en Influencias)
-Ha pinchado en el Festival Tendencias
FMI, Festival Easy Pop Weekend, LaLola (Granada), La Yesería (Murcia),
12&Medio (Murcia), Ya Te Vale (La Manga), etc...
-In his leisure weekends he loves
djing his favourite songs: pop, indie, rock, brit, techno, punk, beat,...
just the hits from the last decades and also some other beautiful songs.
-He has been djing at some festivals
and venues in Spain...

-Ya lleva 9 números editados
desde el año 2000.
-Saca un número al año,
que últimamente viene en formato triple, y va acompañado
de un cd, posters, chapa,... y cada número contiene alrededor de
30 entrevistas, unas 400 críticas de discos, vinilos y maquetas,
resúmenes de festivales, conciertos, etc...
-En formato clásico de papel,
y también online.
-A huge ‘zine about pop music.

-Lately an issue is released
each year, a complete summary of pop! Each issue is a triple volume accompanied
by a cd, some posters, a badge,... and contains around 30 interviews, 400
cd, 7” and demo reviews, festivals, gigs, and so on...

Rafa
para editar el segundo álbum de VACACIONES, ‘Emmaboda’.
-Aunque en principio es un sello
para autoeditar sus propios discos, no se descarta editar en un futuro
a otros grupos si el tiempo (y el dinero) lo permite.
-Indie record label created to
release the second album by VACACIONES, ‘Emmaboda’.
-Despite the label was created
to release his own recordings, Rafa would like to release records by other
bands if time (and money) makes it possible.
