  • Bio

.. .... .. -MUSIC- .. .. Eclectic musician, music therapist (qualified at the Quadrennial Course of Music Therapy in Assisi/Perugia), graduated as singer at the Conservatory of Music A. Corelli in Messina, he studied piano and composition in Rome (Italy) and in Budapest (Hungary). A member of the renaissance-baroque ensemble Harmoniosi Concerti since 1998, he devotes his main activity to the executive praxis of early music and to a very wide research on human vocal potential, creating a distinctive way of composing a'cappella music with overtone singing, from which comes the idea to create and lead his Voxechology group... .. -WORKSHOPS- .. .. From his first international presentation in Oxford (UK) for the X World Congress of Music Therapy on July 2002, he conducts workshops on Harmonic Singing techniques and the recovery of musical archetypes, by focusing on the body as an instrument of infinite and wonderful resonances. The program could be developed in music and in the therapy ambit, as well as for all those people who want to live in depth, the emotions of an authentic aesthetic relationship within a group... .. -PERFORMANCES- .. .. His shows are characterized by an unusual composition of styles and gestures, of tunes and lyrics taken from each kind of literature and from his own original works through which the Overtones/Harmonics Singing expression becomes predominant. He frequently performs with all sorts of artists, in a touching theatrical way. He also loves to sing and play different music styles with all sorts of groups, bands and ensembles... .. -MUSIC THERAPY- .. .. His musical work is deeply connected to his own music therapy path. Following a holistic direction centred on aesthetical and phenomenological/relationship parameters, he created an eclectic method called Gestalt Harmonic Singing with his collaborator and close friend Giuseppe Sampognaro, an excellent Gestalt psychotherapist, writer, teacher and journalist. Their work has been successful presented at the XII World Congress of Music Therapy in Buenos Aires, July 2008. Since 2000, Raffaele Schiavo has worked with disabled and ill people from childhood to adult age within his own special program promoted by the District of Siracusa in Sicily (Italy), involving rehabilitation and assistance caring centres, schools and Local Health Service (ASL) with their principal structures: hospital (oncology patients), drug addicted assistance service (SERT), mental health service and child neuropsychiatry service. His work is particularly appreciated worldwide in Oncology (1st International Congress of Integrative Oncology, Society of Integrative Oncology, New York, Nov. 2004) and in Penitentiary ambits ('Music between Neuroscience and Art', II International Congress of Music Therapy – Centro Benenzon Italia, Alba, Italy, May-June 2006). At the moment he conducts his research for C.I.A.O. (Oncology Listening Interdisciplinary Centre), teaching his method through the Institute of Gestalt (Human Communication Centre) and the Cattolica – Sacro Cuore University of Rome (Master of Psycho-Oncology) in their Sicily branches. Raffaele occasionally writes his column 'Music & Therapy' for the Italian magazine Suono... .. -NEW PROJECT- .. A program with Hiv/Aids patients...
