Drawing inspiration from the melodic epic-house era as well as a string of electronic musicians, his sound is a hybrid of smooth driving rhythm & emotive symphonies riding along a complex layering of elements and sleek well-programmed beats.
Having spent most of his years meddling with music (electronic or otherwise), Rafi has since evolved to join a breed of dedicated music makers who are well versed in production as well as DJ-ing. In his mixes, one should always expect a specially tailored soundscape, designed to move your body and speak to your mind.
Together with local DJs from www.frontallabs.com, Rafi has spun at the top clubs in Singapore under the guise of for[e]sight. Clubs conquered include Zouk, Phuture, Rouge, Homeclub, DXO, Onyx and the now-defunct Centro360 and The Liquid Room. In July 2004, Rafi made a debut appearance in Melbourne, Australia for a one-off progressive gig at Sideways @ Tilt, playing alongside Ivan Gough and Sean Quinn. Upon his return to Singapore, he clinched the Runner-up trophy in the Juice DJ Quest 2004 competition held at Zouk, and was subsequently awarded Juice Magazine (Singapore) – Best New Local DJ in December 2004.
In 2005, he began concentrating on performing a hybrid DJ set, mixing on Ableton Live and collaborating with other DJs & musicians. This fluid performance brought Rafi and his team (Marc on guitars, Weili on decks + guitars) to the Semi-Finals of the Heineken Thirst 2005 competition in Singapore, and a special invitation to perform at the Singapore Spotlight in Hong Kong (Jan 2006).
2006 saw a shift in his musical career, as Rafi was appointed his first residency at the BeachClub (Docklands, Melbourne), and contributed deck duties at the fund-raising Heaven & Hell party held at Brown Alley in July 2006. The past year also saw him working on sound design and composition for theatre & performing arts in Melbourne, Australia.
Rafi has since returned to Singapore to pursue a career in sound design and electronic music. Never leaving his old charm behind, he still embarks on those deep and epic journeys through the acetate running under the sapphire tip.
KABELTON is in love! Usually, the enfant terrible of the minimal scene is better known as a restless insomniac and won't even stop producing disturbingly catchy techno tracks while eating, dancing or going berserk to the beat. That was before he met IVANA, however.
No romantic wallpaper to play during a candle light dinner perhaps. But then KABELTON is not the guy to disrespect his roots not even when he's in love.
