Już w sierpniu podczas tegorocznego Reggae Dub Festiwalu w Bielawie będzie miał premierę interesujący album. Wydawnictwo Karrot Kommando szykuje się do wydania bardzo nowatorskiej, spokojnej i kontemplacyjnej płyty z gatunku dub; mowa o debiucie grupy Ragana. Muzyka tworzona przez ten kwartet to brzmienia skąpe i surowe, grane naturalnie, i skoncentrowane na przestrzeniach między dźwiękami.

- Dub dla mnie to coś, co nie jest słyszalne ze „zwykłego instrumentu“; coś co wkręca mi się do głowy i powoduje dziwne ruchy różnymi częściami ciała - tłumaczy z humorem Marek Piotrowicz - perkusista i współzałożyciel Ragany - Najbardziej zadowolony jestem z przestrzeni, którą udało nam się wygenerować, nie zatracając jednocześnie tego specyficznego pulsu reggae.

Album nosi tytuł „So Many Reverbs To Cross“. Rola instrumentów ogranicza się tu głównie do sekcji rytmicznej. Na tej bazie wyśpiewuje swoje historie wokalistka Jahga i to jej charakterystyczny głos buduje całą melodię utworów. Pierwszy plan jednak, zgodnie z tytułem płyty, pozostawiony jest dla dub'u - przestrzennych efektów i brzmień przetrawionych przez dub-maszynerię warszawskiego Studia As One.

- To pierwsza od wielu lat polska kapela grająca ten rodzaj dub'u, więc 99% efektów na tej płycie nagrywaliśmy w czasie rzeczywistym tzw. „z łapy“ - opowiada pracujący przy albumie producent Jarek „Smok“ Smak - Piękne melodie i mnóstwo miejsca, by użyć wszelkiego rodzaju maszyn dubujących. Rewelacja.

Na płycie usłyszymy również partie instrumentów dętych wykonane przez Crispy Horns. Ten brytyjski kolektyw, współpracujący z tak uznanymi projektami angielskiej sceny dub jak Love Grocer czy Zion Train, obecny jest między innymi w utworze Listen To Your Heart, promującym album. During this years Reggae Dub Festival in Bielawa in August a new polish dub album will have its premiere. Fresh out of Karrot Kommando - the best polish reggae label - smooth yet heavy dub style; it is debut of a group called Ragana! Four players of the instruments create the musical space, where gaps in between are as important as sounds itself.

The drummer & co-founder of Ragana, Marek Piotrowicz says - Dub is something you can not get just by putting the instrument parts together. It's something that enters your head and brings life to different parts of your body. Its all about space while maintaining the reggae pulse.

The Album is called So Many Reverbs Cross. The role of the instruments is mainly focused on rhythm section. With riddim background, Jagha is singing different stories and it is her distinctive voice that gives the melodic element to the album. Like the title suggests, the music is just pure DUB - spacious effects & sounds, which were mixed in by dub engineers at Studio As One in Warsaw.

- This is the first polish band in many years to play this kind of dub, old school, analog style. That means that 99 percent of the effects on this album has been recorded in real time, using vintage and modern effect processors - says Jarek "Smok" Smak, the producer and mixing engineer - We had beautiful melodies and plenty of space to use different kinds of dub-mixing machines. Its sensational!

On the album we can also hear a bras section of Crispy Horns. This British group was featured on album of artists such as Love Grocer or Zion Train.
