Ragtop began as a side project for the band Flowers for Algernon in March 1937. It was a veritable scientific anomaly that no one seemed to notice at the time. I guess the masses weren't ready. So they climbed back into the oven from whence they sprung, only to further fester and emerge when the world would be ready to handle their massively awesome incredulity. Several decades later everyone was born and eventually learned to play various musical instruments. The first two of them met at a very early age. I think Eric must've been six and Jeremy zero, no one really knows for sure. Apparently they came from the same oven. Then they met Ryan, who was vivaciously ecstatic all the time, so they nicknamed him "retard" and it was good and no one was offended. Then they hired and fired extraneous guitar players at random; a practice which continues to this day for dramatic effect only. No one ever seems to remember any of the guitar players names anyway, but oh well. No one really seems to care. The core three, close though they were, would fight dramatically and then hug each other, then fight some more, and just generally would behave strangely pretty much all the time. They wrote songs that were catchy, danceable and seldom sarcastic. It seems that they get all this out on their own. They played shows that were long, interspersed with tasty covers, and never spastic. They had paper and metal, but never plastic. It was an instant classic. They opened for mildly famous acts such as Gary P. Nunn and Honeybrowne. They always looked up. Never down. Those who had hair, it was shades of brown. They also had a song called "This Old Town." It was Ragtop and it was good. Come to a show, you'll be as happy as you ever possibly humanly could. Well, maybe, but come anyway. Its a celebration, bitches. Written by Charles Peters (another RagTop guitar player and frontman for Three Fantastic) We all cryed when Eric quit the group... He was just the right flavor like in chicken noodle soup... but even Eric gives his blessing and and hopes for success none faster.... With RT's new "Low end master of Disaster" Tyler and Eric are pretty close as friends... Ragtop is a TX Music band, with an enormous arsenal of flavor and a huge love for TEXAS. You can hear songs reminiscent of Hootie, Bon Jovi, or Bryan Adams, and then immediately hear them break into some dirty roadhouse blues or some hardcore Pat Green. You never know. But its always good and its always changing, so you better not miss it.
