This young man has done exceptionally well for his tender age. He is a superior student, friend, brother and role-model to anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting him. Raheem has graced the stages of an enormous amount of community events at only 14 years old. He has performed his talent for National Charity events, York University’s 106 and York Urban Arts Festival as well as being an act of Toronto’s Manifesto Art Festival, to name a few of the events he has participated in.
RAHEEM - was born Jahkoy Palmer on March 23, 1994 in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Raheem started expressing his love for music at a very young age emulating musicians of all genres of music. He enjoys everything from country, soft rock and instrumental to rap and just about anything that he can grasp inspiration from. At the tender yet ripe age of 14, Raheem's uniquely remarkable talent is undeniable and not to mention his persona, he is surprisingly mature for a young man his age.
He is aimed for the sky and before long if he continues on this track (no pun intended) there he'll be. Raheem enjoys school and the whole process of learning to evolve which contributes to his currently being an "A" student. For extracurricular activities he enjoys basketball, track & field, football and last but most definitely not least he finds great enjoyment in making his music. He compiles and composes his music all by himself, then goes to the studio to finalize the sound. He gets his inspiration from everything that surrounds him, mainly people, situations and attitudes (might even be something funny that a cat has done) that he encounters which makes his music feel relative to anyone who hears it.
Being raised in urban areas like Lawrence Heights (The Jungle) and Jane/Finch could have negatively influenced Raheem, but no quit the opposite; instead he used his life experiences and situations to embrace life for all it has to offer. He is very confident and inspired by the optimists (teachers and family) he’s been surrounded by all of his life. He uses his music as a way to relay his thoughts and feelings; and for a young soul of such stature his thoughts are of nothing but expression of love for life and everything in it. He spends countless hours on his computer doing everything from writing lyrics to searching for the right beats for a particular song he has written. He selects each verse with such a high level of intricacy that is very rarely seen, or even expressed by youngsters his age. When asked about his influences he accredits Lionel Ritchie, Savage Garden, Maroon 5, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and may more for showing him this form of expression and accredits ongoing encouragement to life as he experiences and perceives it.
To keep in the loop of what is going on with Raheem he has additions to his two (currently circulating) mixtapes on his myspace page http://www.myspace.com/raheem1994 which he updates periodically.
