Influences
Very fine musician friends have both influenced and inspired me: amazing drummer/percussionist/composer/super inspiration/visionary and my good friend Yona Yacobovitch from Tofa'ah; bassist/guitarist/composer/singer and my good friend Victor Asus of so many bands; all of Israel's wonderful folk musicians, many of them are here on myspace; my good friend and collaborator Betsy Rosenberg; Mikial Robertson has inspired a slew of songs... Living in Israel was and is a huge inspiration. Torah.... Growing up in the world of hippies, flower power, feminism, standing up for what's right and knowing just one person can make a difference .... Then there's the Boston folk scene, WORLD music, folk, funk, fusion, Israeli, Middle Eastern... Celebrity musicians who have inspired me are: Wendy Waldman, James Taylor, Indigo Girls, Led Zeppelin, EWF, CSN, Santana, Paul Simon and so many and so much more...
A FEW WORDS ABOUT MY CD's: 1) They are all available for purchase at www.CDBABY.com; 2) Individual songs are available digitally at most Internet digital sales sites; 3) There are lots of songs available right here on this site:
TIKKUN: A Divinely inspired collection of songs; verses from the psalms set to music. These are the ten psalms revealed by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, z"l to be particularly beneficial for healing. People who hear this music have told me that it transforms and transcends them. All the credit goes to the Creator. This is a live studio recording that turned into a 3-CD project. It also includes a really nice pocket-sized booklet with Hebrew, English and transliterated lyrics. The CD was recorded live at the Chris DelRossi's "Cat's Studio" in Brookline, NH and at Betsy's Folly Studios in Lyndeboro, NH with Jim McLure. Released in 2004, I had some very fine and uniquely talented musicians with me: Aaron Tyne on the Oud and Sitar who never missed a beat and enhanced each and every song with his beautiful instrumental melodies and harmonies; and Greg Reinauer, at the time a High School senior, did some nice work on the fretless bass. There are lots of favorites featured on this CD.
TIME PASSES BY: My debut solo CD released in 2000. This is a fine musical work produced at Mikro Studios in Nashua, NH by Mikial Robertson (who has since moved his studios to Milford, NH). Mikial also added truly superb additional instrumental arrangements. The songs are very diverse which beautifully expresses who I am. Songs people have liked include: Babylon, Hey Love (I Am), Where I'm Bound, Before Mountains.
KIT & CABOODLE: This is a very good CD for children and their entire families! It is the collaborative effort of myself and Betsy Rosenberg. The songs really speak to the child's imagination. It's also a wonderful FOLK music CD. Some of Israel's finest folk musicians are featured as guest artists. Favorites include: Searching for a Whale, Here Kitty, Cowboy Cloud.
LISTEN LIKE LEARN with MOTHER GOOSE ON THE LOOSE: Another wonderful CD especially for the infant to 5 yr. olds crowd! There are 121 (!!!) nursery songs and rhymes included in this 2-CD set. - every one a favorite. This CD is extremely popular especially as part of Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen's "Mother Goose on the Loose" early literacy program and with Barbara Cass-Beggs' "Listen Like Learn/Your Baby Needs Music" program. In fact anyone with very young children, or who might be participating in any infant to 5 yr. old program ought to have this CD in their collection! It's simply done in a pure folk style with just vocals and guitar. Kids really love it. You'll catch them doing all the hand and finger actions while they sing along.
YOUR CHILD NEEDS MUSIC - HEBREW: There are 66 nursery songs and rhymes all sung in Hebrew on this CD! Many of them are the same as those included on the CD mentioned above. It's great for Hebrew speakers and also for anyone learning to speak Hebrew. Every song on this one a favorite too!
GROWING IN THE GRANITE STATE: A collaborative effort of 14 New Hampshire children's musicians, the brainstorm of Steve Blunt. 14 musicians, 14 great songs! Produced to help raise funds for David's House, "a comfortable home-away-from-home for children receiving treatment through Children's Hospital at Dartmouth--CHaD--at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H." You can purchase it by contacting me personally.

G-D exists in many different forms and is found in many different places amongst us. Each of us has our own unique experience. If we find Peace within ourselves, we can make Peace throughout the world. Listen to the sounds..." (Rahel)
"Evil flourishes in a field of apathy" (Oprah)
Ancient wisdom teaches that the Hebrew letters, when spoken aloud as in prayer or song, lead to profound healing and transformation.
Weaving together ancient Hebrew text with beautiful and compelling songs, chants, and meditations, Rahel awakens the still small voice within to inspire, uplift, and profoundly move you to a place of inner calm and spiritual joy.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE SONGS
OSEH SHALOM - SONG FOR PEACE: “Oseh Shalom” is a popular prayer that has artists world-wide writing all sorts of musical versions to. I've been blessed to have the amazing Bruce Burger (aka REBBESOUL) playing guitar lead on this version. My version was born literally one night in a dream. I dreamt I was sitting in a room playing my guitar and working on a song. It was this song. As I was singing people slowly gathered nearby and began to pray. Someone in the room told me to hush because people were praying nearby. But I didn’t stop; I kept on playing because I instinctively understood that those who had gathered were there because of the song. When I woke up the song was spinning around in my head. So I grabbed a tape recorder and recorded it so I wouldn’t lose it. The dream gave me the first part of the song. I developed the rest over the course of the day. It expresses a celebration of positive energy and good feelings. Peace.
HINAY MA TOV: This is one of the most popular Hebrew songs around. There are many versions. This is mine. It started as a jam session that Jason and I would open our shows with and chat with the audience. Then one day I decided it ought to become an official song and realized that the popular lyric from Psalm 133 would work well. Voila. To make the song complete I was blessed to have Bruce Burger (aka REBBESOUL) add his amazing guitar work.
KEE ELEF SHANIM - A THOUSAND YEARS: I really like this song. I love the message. In Hebrew it's really deep. Trying to match that depth into an English lyric was not easy. The message changed slightly but it's a really cool song in both languages. The rhythm is rooted in Middle Eastern beats.
TIKKUN SAMPLER: This gives you a tiny taste of my versions of verses from Reb Nachman's "Tikkun HaKlali" - the ten healing psalms. This body of work (27 songs in all!) was born in 1995 but didn't turn into a CD until 2004. The songs are special. They take on many shapes and forms and do some very special healing work to those who listen. They are very profound.
ROOTES SAMPLER: Another side of me. Together with Jason Paul and Andre Dumont, I think we've created some great FOLK-ROCKIN' pieces. This sampler showcases our diversity in musical selection and captures the essence of who we are. Visit us at: myspace/rootesmusic
SOUL SOLITARY: (Coming soon!) Now THIS is a song. It expresses extreme loneliness. I had made a home and a life in beautiful rural New Hampshire where each season brings with it scenes of awesome natural beauty. In winter the snows cover vast expanses of land with pure and natural whiteness; in the spring the flowers come out to usher in beautiful summer days. The fall foliage never fails to show off the splendor of God’s awesome creation. Yet, even with all that, without love and without friendship, all I could see and feel was solitude and loneliness. My life felt like a stark desert. Sometimes my life as a musician feels like this. You wonder when you will ever touch someone’s heart with your melodies or lyric. You wonder if anyone will ever notice you, your songs, and your life’s work.

Hi Rahel, My husband bought Tikkun for my birthday. It's definitely helping my shoulder heal...I get lost in the music and drop the pain along the way. Cynthia
Shalom Sweetest Rahel, We really have to connect...maybe on Skype? I'll be in the States all summer, B"H. Are you coming to NY? Love and Friendship, Shoshannah
Ah, yes -- small world, isn't it? I just happened to be flipping through the Nashua Folk Fest's "friends" pages and there you were. Actually, me (and my painted guitar) and the rest of the band will be at the Fest in August. We have the 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31 slot. Maybe we'll see you there!
Shalom Rahel - Thanks for the friendship and for your warm comment. I too spent time on your page. You write beautiful music and play guitar really well! You list the US but mention living in Israel. Are you here? Victor played bass for me on my first album! Nice to meet you and much success to you. Nomi
Shalom Rahel, Your music has at different times a driving vital life energy and a healing circular baby rocking quality. My dad hears your Tikkun CD on a regular basis as part of his music therapy in the nursing home. Thank you for the great healing that your music offers the olam.
