About me:

Railroad Square Cinema is independently owned, operated, and opened in 1978. The first cinema was a previously abandoned warehouse located by the railroad tracks at 17 Railroad Square, Waterville, Maine. Railroad Square began with the ideas from six friends; Gail Chase, Ken Eisen, Lea Giadin, Alan Sanborn, Sam Sanborn, and Stu Silverstein, who came to the collective decision that Maine needed its own art-house cinema. In 1994, the initial building was destroyed by a fire. However, through fundraisers and donations from the local community, the present-day cinema was built.

The cinema has three screens. Each screen seats a different number of patrons, 150/90/50. It is the home of the Maine International Film Festival, which started in 1998.

Be sure to visit our brand new online FORUM to discuss all things related to the Railroad Square!

It is my pleasure to have been added by you!
I moved out of Maine, back to my native Philly, a few years ago but a lot of my heart (and some really great memories of Maine films that I worked on) remains up there. I will always remember meeting Lea there and seeing Jonathan Demme speak at the fest. I recently wrote a screenplay for some summertime friends of RR Square, the film is finished and I hope that it might play there soon.

Our LA Times review!
MOVIE REVIEW
'Ten 'Til Noon'
The ingenious thriller demonstrates that big stars and even bigger budgets aren't necessary for a classy result.

By Kevin Thomas, Special to The Times

"Ten 'Til Noon" is a triumph of ingenuity over budget, a taut, darkly comic thriller with a dart of pathos that holds attention like Super Glue from the first frame to the last. It is writer Paul Osborne's first produced screenplay and director Scott Storm's second feature — the first was the well-reviewed yet unreleased 1998 film "Burn," a bleak fable of survival in Hollywood.

In any event, everything here is top-notch — on-the-money ensemble cast, apt locations, Alice Brooks' gleaming camerawork, Joe Kraemer's intense score and Kalman Alexander's razor-sharp editing. It's a class act financed on a shoestring.

The perverse workings of fate drive many a movie, but here it is plain old greed, set in motion most unexpectedly by a crook's drastic expression of love. "Ten 'Til Noon," however, leaves the viewer with the strong feeling that ultimately passion is not going to be much of a match for greed. Each of its tightly interconnected six segments, involving 10 key figures, is literally a power play, with one individual exerting control over others with either money or a gun or both.

A jet-lagged computer technology tycoon (Rick D. Wasserman) is awakened in his spacious Malibu bedroom by a philosophical professional assassin (Alfonso Freeman) and his mute assistant (Jenya Lano). Along with comments on the uncertainties of the post 9/11 world, the assassin mentions that at this very moment the tycoon's wife (Rayne Guest) is having a strenuous hotel-room tryst with a hunky young man (Jason Hamer), which becomes the second sequence. The third reveals the tryst to be under surveillance by a couple of comical loser types (Daniel Hagen and Dylan Kussman — the latter, inciden

2007 is the 40th anniversary of the historic 1967 anti-war march to the Pentagon during the Vietnam War. The message of the 1967 march was "From Protest to Resistance," and marked a turning point in the development of a countrywide mass movement.

oh railroad square, the good times i had inside of you! from the pmm halloween shows to being simply a comforting and safe refuge from the speedfreak general populous of waterville, you were always there for me, baby, and i appreciate it. although i live in denver now and there are a few very cool theatres, none of them hold a candle to you. when i visit my homeland of maine this summer, i will make a point to stop by and get up in ya. alright?
