About me:
RAIN RECOMMENDS
This site exists to connect people with music they will love.

The point of this site is to connect music fans with unknown bands and musicians they will love. Here you will find emerging bands, underground bands, & forgotten bands. This is not a space for polished or corporate bands - there will be no top 40 bands here. This is a site for bands and musicians that are up-and-coming with great promise - people to watch and support as they struggle and climb their way up. Some of these musicians are amateurs that have posted demos recorded in their garages that will blow you away. Other musicians here have been in the scene for years but are developing new projects that are still in their infancy. Still others produce music that is so raw or experimental that you will wonder what you just heard as you find yourself wanting more. Everyone has their preferences and there is quite a range presented on this site - poke around and see what you like. We expect you will find your next favorite band.

I.The top 4 friends are my Featured Friends:

Coming soon: reviews, descriptions, daily additions to the site, and much more!

II. The next 20 bands in the top friends are there to demonstrate the types of sounds you will find here, with each band representing a particular style of music:

Garage, Post-Punk, Jangles, Distortion, Fuzz, Paisley, Psychedelic, Punk, Shoegaze, Goth, New Wave, Proto Punk, etc.

These are artists you will already know (or should know).

III. The bottom 16 friends are bands you should check out.

--They are all emerging bands. Once they become too well-known, I take them down. This is a place to discover music you don't know about.

--They are all good or have high potential. This is not about commercial potential. This is about creativity, emotional impact, dynamism, passion, experimentation, energy, relevance, lyricism, gravity, the quality of their live performances, etc. It's about what makes a band good to an underground/"college radio" (back when that meant something)/DIY/indie music fan (note the musical categories listed above).

--The bottom 16 are rotated periodically to give exposure to as many good bands as possible. Feel free to peruse my whole friends list for more good music if you like what you see here, and don't forget to look at the links on the left.

--Feedback is most welcome. If you like one of these bands, or you want to recommend a band, please let me know.

IV. The "Best Of" List

--On the left side of the page are permanent links to the best bands that I find on myspace. The bottom 16 "top friends" rotate regularly, but the best bands, once they have spent time in the bottom 16, will find a permanent home on the left. This list is always under construction. If you are in a band or know of a band that you think should be up on this page, let me know! **Please note: this list will be updated again when we launch the latest version of this page**

Who I'd like to meet:

Hey, Rain, i didn't even see you!  For me, the standout band that I saw was actually a new one...Blessure Grave.  They sounded like March Violets but a little more post-punk...but at the heart, it was straight goth.  They were really amazing and I was a bit sad that they were the first band I saw because they kind of blew everyone else out of the water for me, but I have awkward tastes sometimes.  They're coming back to play Silver Factory next month, you shoul;d try to catch them.

I wanted to see A Place to Bury Strangers, but Carisa has been feeling a bit sick and we're both pretty broke, but we already got our Bunnymen tickets, so we'll hopefully see you there!
