   The Kernel Loaf's Blurbs
About me:

Hey, been literally years since I last updated this!

Some folk will know me as one half of the porno pop shit storm that was Fluffy and the Rainbow Bunnys.

Currently at RGU studying Computer Science, along with working in a corner shop to pay me bills (just barely :P). However, all good things must come to an end so I am moving back to the parental unit's fort in June till I can save up enough cash to get another flat. How interesting!

Who I'd like to meet:

Gamers, Musicians, Bands with a sense of originality and not just some regurgitated formula false-Metallers.

yeah its all good, lots of work to do, but thats probably a good thing.
Sorry to hear about the scene back home, I got that impression when i was back over christmas. It's difficult to know what to do about that sort of stuff really, it seems noone wants to hear good music anymore. :-(

Brighton raised, multi award winning DJ Friction is a member of an exclusive club. He is one of a handful of DJ's to have smashed through the ranks and become a superstar in his genre simply through an unbelievable talent behind the decks.

Evolution, intelligent design, divine intervention regardless of your rationale, there is no refuting the fact that nature has taken the next step, and its name is Noisia. Noisia have shaken the scene senseless with their sheer sonic strength, yet formidable force is only one facet of these dominant Dutchmen.

Pendulum dj set & Mc Jakes
Epoc Live

Saturday 4th October 2008
The Forum, Skene Terrace, Aberdeen
11pm - 3am

Tickets £15 available from:
One up, Belmont st 01224 642662
Attic, The Academy 01224 644000
Earl Of Sandwich, The Green 01224 587259
HMV, Union St 01224 593535

Pendulum formed in their home-town of Perth
(Western Australia) in 2002, when producers
Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen teamed up with
acclaimed local DJ Paul 'Elhornet' Harding.
While their individual formative roots ranged
from producing drum & bass, breakbeat and
hardcore, to playing in metal and punk bands,
their comparable talents proved an unstoppable
force when they managed to single-handedly
conquer the world of drum & bass in their first
12 months together.

After selling more than 100,000 units of their
debut artist album "Hold Your Colour", remixing
for such respected artists as The Prodigy,
being play-listed and featuring regularly on
BBC Radio 1, all whilst continuing to tour the
world over as DJs

EPOC LIVE is no ordinary act, the band are
raw, electronic, sound system killers. Keeping
the crowd moving in a hyped up frenzy they
seamlessly mix their diverse tracks, with snare
cracking beats, deep bass and vocals to rattle
anyone’s brain. Intense dance floor power is
entwined with positive lyrical substance
throughout their 100% live performance.

The long awaited debut release; ‘RUFFNECK SOUL’
will be available from 01.12.08

Hey,

How's the coding coming along?

Jun 6 2008 1:48 PM

One of my favorite pieces has to be Jeroen Tel's Robocop3 (http://sid.oth4.com/series/01/mp3/Jeroen_Tel_-_Robocop_3_8580.mp3). Rob Hubbard was the man though!

http://cadaver.homeftp.net/rants/music.htm might help you.
Malodix

Jun 6 2008 1:02 PM

Woah, you're brave! I'd never have the patience for building the routines. I've never coded anything in BASIC or assembly, not even in school. It'd be interesting to see what you can produce. I'm pretty sure I seen some of Rob Hubbard's routines posted on a forum somewhere, which would help you out if you get stuck.

Yeah. Duracell was nothing short of amazing. It was by far the best gig I'd ever been to. It even beat seeing DragonForce in Moshulu. He's a fucking ace drummer, and he's in so many side projects too. In fact, as far as I know, Duracell is one of his side projects that he just does when he has a little time. Sounds like one busy guy. He's a role model for me. I'd have his kids if I could.

I've never spoken to Ash, but I did go and see the last gig he did in Drummonds. There couldn't have been more than 6 people at the stage. I've never seen Drummonds so empty. There's usually more people in there about 30 minutes after it opens. It was really strange.

Mr Troller seems like a fine guy and his music's pretty good. Shame he doesn't gig more.

Yeah, our scene is a bitt naff. It's all full of screamo/emo bands. This wouldn't be too bad if some were decent, but the ones I've seen have all sounded exactly the same as the previous. They're breeding like rabbits. There's so many local bands now all doing the same thing, all dressing in tweed jackets and bonnets with skin-tight jeans and shiny shoes with pointy toes (what the fuck is with that?!) and saying "we''d be HUGE if we were in Glasgow". There's still Black Atom and Double Jack though, who never fail to put a smile on my face.

Finally! Someone who wants to write music using a machine that has an independent sound chip. Actual chiptune music! Wahey. I was going to look into getting a C64 off of eBay, OR, an SX64 (how cool would it be to have one of those?!). I've always liked the way the SID chip sounded, but prefer the Yahama YM2149's crunchier sound, so I picked the ST to do most of my stuff. Are you using goattracker or something similar? If you haven't heard it already, check out Goto80's 'Comsten'. It's amazing what he can squeeze out of the SID chip.
Malodix

Jun 3 2008 9:39 PM

Thanks for the kind words. My music's pretty naff due to not being able to find much time to work on my stuff. I'm getting there though. You may also like comptroller, who's another Aberdonian. He writes songs on the gameboy, unlike me who prefers to work with the Atari ST. :)

I was quite shocked to find Tom of AY doing what he does and being local. I'm guessing that's how you find me? He's a crazy boy!

It's a shame Sabrepulse threw in the towel. He was quite good and it was a treat to have someone like him up here.

I think Duracell is planning to come back and play here at some stage. When he played at the tunnels, I did the whole "You're fucking amazing, honestly you are. You're ace. You're the boy" drunk fanboy thing. It went on for a bit, and he promised me he'd come back, so hopefully it happens.
