What is your favorite season? ALL OF THEM

Rainer Bronner

Thank-you to all who have participated.
Here are positive feedback and nice messages examples (although many refer to Rainer the team founder he notes that all who participate in person or spirit to help us advance humanitarian and environment well-being implicitly share all related commendations):

".... good promo style - reminds me of when a community used to have to work together to hunt a buffalo, and how a celebration and feast would happen when they all had one to eat. .... its nice the way holistic people come together naturally in an organic way, and how people working towards good causes attract other like minded people. Its nice to all work together"

Barnaby Bennett from The Tetraktys band (May 28, 2008 e-mail)

Interviews

..

Donations flow from local businesses for quake victims - VICTORIA HANDYIDES - METRO EDMONTON, January 15, 2010 5:15 a.m.

- excerpt [interview quotes and info errata noted]:

In the wake of a quake that crumbled an impoverished island nation Tuesday, locals are opening their hearts and wallets to help from a world away.

“This indiscriminately killed women, men, children, rich, poor, all colours and all cultures.

These are fellow human beings of ours,” said charity concert organizer Rainer Bronner.

“You can either tune disasters like this out, or react in a positive way.”

Within 24 hours of the 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Haiti, Raindance River Boots [ Rubberboots :-) ] was offered musician’s time and free jam space [line-up of live original music recording artists], for Thursday night’s fundraiser at The Hydeaway.

“We’re not fireman, doctors or nurses. Music was what could we [we could] do very quick in response,” Bronner said. Net proceeds from the event will be sent to Doctors Without Borders, an aid organization on the front lines in Haiti. .... [actually advertised then fulfilled as 1/2 to Doctors w/o Borders, 1/2 to Red Cross - every penny collected was donated .. artists, sound techs, promotion team all wholy 100% donated their time, energy, performance, and promotion costs]

Avenue Theatre to host benefit concert - Updated: Sat Nov. 21 2009 15:22:06 - Jessica Earle, ctvedmonton.ca

- excerpt [interview quotes & info errata noted]:

On Saturday night four local rock bands will take to the stage in support of a registered Canadian charity that provides assistance and advocacy to children in war-torn countries around the world. .... all net proceeds going to War Child Canada.

Event organizer Rainer Bronner say the styles of rock include New Age [ambient new wave rock], modern [modern classic rock] and alternative. He believes the scene is well-suited to music lovers ranging in age from 18 to people in their 50s [Rainer actually didn't note that 50s yrs. ages was the interest limit, but rather musicians ranged in age from teens to 40s, and that even his 80+ yrs. young father might show up], and says the goal is to create a safe and inclusive event.

"Our presence there, bringing positive music, positive art... is helping that revitalization mode they're in," says Bronner, referring to the Arts on the Ave revitalization project.

He points to firefighters serving as voluntary security guards as an example of the neighbourhood coming together for a good cause.

"A lot of the people from the community have come on to help make this run as cheap as possible to maximize what we give to War Child," he said.

Avenue theatre is located at 9030 118 Ave.

We're planning PEACE LOVE themed music CDs to help respected non-violent non-sectarian humanitarian groups. We're also building a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) "Donate What You Want" music download site where supporters of the theme can select the social conscious songs and artwork combo they prefer to create a personalized CD. We invite more music, visual, spoken word, and other artists to donate content. You keep copyright and no exclusivity is asked for. All people are invited to live the PEACE LOVE ideal.

WALK4JUSTICE 2008 (Vancouver to Ottawa Summer June 21 to Sept. 15) EDMONTON STOPOVER EVENT

July 3/08 @ the Canadian Native Friendship Centre

This event's goal was to raise awareness and action about all murdered and missing Canadians including the very high rate of Aboriginal women and girls (but also many men and boys) - a human crisis that has Amnesty International urgently calling on the Canadian government and citizens to take decisive action to help stop more killing and violence. It is estimated that of the 3000+ Canadian women and children listed as murdered/missing in Canada since the list's founding after the 1989 Montreal Massacre of 14 Female Students - that about 75-80% are Aboriginal.

Walk4Justice reached Ottawa and on Sept. 15/08 delivered a petition to the Federal government that more action be taken to prevent these crimes, and bring killers to justice while finding the many missing.

Due to a walkers support vehicle accident just prior messing with the event's vibe and scheduling we cancelled the round dance that Thundering Spirit drummers were going to lead, world champ hoop dancer Adrian LaChance, and also Greg Amundson and Jan Randall had prepared and intended to perform. We did have Elders prayers and blessing of food (soup, bannock, turkey) plus some of the invited recording artists performed gentle music as we chilled out (in alphabetical order: Mike Ehlers, Dennis Frigon, Gautam Karnik, Paula Eve Kirman, John Spearn, Ken Stead, Ari Volk did reduced sets.

To whom it may concern. My name is Gladys Radek, Advocate for the Highway of Tears and organizer for the walk4justice happening this summer from June 21, 2008 to September 15, 2008. This walk will be from Vancouver to Ottawa to address and honor all our missing and murdered women across the country.

This letter is to confirm that Rainer Bronner, director of Rain Dance Rubber Boots music and art team is arranging and directing a music and artist line-up for the Edmonton stop. We are very honored that they have offered to entertain and hold events for our family members and walkers in Edmonton. Thank you for your generous support in this very serious issue. We will be in Edmonton July 3 and 4, 2008. Much Respect, Gladys Radek Advocate for the Highway of Tears organizer for walk4justice2008 604-253-5989 or walk4justice2008@yahoo.ca

EDMONTON WORLD WATER DAY MARCH 22 CELEBRATION FESTIVAL 2008

The United Nations declared March 22 of each year "World Day for Water" (World Water Day) and the years 2005 to 2015 the International Decade for "Water for Life" Action.

Mayor Stephen Mandel (City of Edmonton)

kindly upon Rainer's request gave us a Proclamation

on behalf of all Edmontonians that declared it was

"World Water Day in Edmonton March 22 2008"

Edmonton's Poet Laureate and University Professor Emeritus

E.D. (Ted) Blodgett, FRSC

presented his new poem written for the occasion that he also read to us:

Water

Certain rains there are that do not seem to fall, but they are rains

that are exhalations of the air, and when you enter them,

your face is laid over with rain as if it were another skin

upon you, and more familiar than what is always there, and if

you were to touch it, it would not be the skin you know, the skin that holds

you as you are, but something larger that is yours and mine and all

that stands mute around us--the trees that have grown fuller, the earth beneath

our feet, flowing with the air. What is there, then, around you that

is not given of the air, unnoticed and departing with

the rain? Perhaps, you will say, that such small rains, that make the air

appear green, but green breathing, are only verdant air, and all

that comes before us as leaf and grass, and as you speak, you touch your face

with hands that have also been touched by rain: How to tell whose skin

this is, that is the breath of everything, where birds are always at rest?

So it is that we are walking through a sea of air, the rain upon

us and taken in as we inhale, the rain that lies almost

asleep upon the trees. Perhaps the birds do not fly but swim,

and we are kin to whales moving through their deeper continents

and carried just as the moon would have them move unresisting through

unfathomable space, their fate not theirs alone but shared with us

where we, not always knowing, breathe the immeasurable rain

that shapes itself through all that it moves toward, taking the form of stone,

your face and its several contours that hold and then become

the rain and its slow infinities flowing out of air.

E.D. Blodgett (March 2008, posted here with permission)

Michael Phair

(long time advocate for the arts, charities, and civic improvement who served on Edmonton City Council from 1992 until 2007) spoke about Edmonton's water policies.

Further water info displayers and/or guest speakers included

Peter Cyprien (Co-Chair)
